A catalyst causes a reaction. It facilitates a development or change of some kind. Yeast for example, is the ingredient that causes bread to rise. By itself, yeast is just yeast. Without it, bread is not bread.
The chances of realizing my goal to bringing alternative and transformational movements into a unified whole, increases along with my knowledge and awareness. Usage of the yeast helps it to rise, along with the aspirations of those I encourage and to which I lend support.
Ever since I chose to challenge the odds of endearing myself to transformational marketspaces, I have seen a quote from famed anthropologist Margaret Mead more than any other.
"Never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has."
I have also seen, "problems cannot be solved at the same level of awareness that created them". I will save this quote from Albert Einstein for another time.
Mead's words contain four catalysts which help me to maintain my conviction and courage in pursuing a bold ambition to provoke, foster and facilitate widespread societal transformation along with a growing number of IONs - Individuals, Organizations and Networks - operating on the edge of change.
Commitment
I have always found it difficult to commit to anything in which I do not believe. I suspect that increasing levels of discontent now facing many North Americans are rooted in living out someone else's dream goals.
Kinship
By no means am I alone in feeling that my life, and any work that I enjoy undertaking to sustain it, should have a deeper meaning and clearer purpose. My concern is that decades of self-service have caused many individuals to misplace their humanity hence putting families, even whole communities at risk.
