Transformative Learning Centre

The TLC is a university-based community partnership structure based at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It supports community-based research and activities in the broad area of transformative learning which for us brings together analysis and perspectives on global transformation which are derived from anti-racism, feminist activism, global education, environmental education and popular education experiences, perspectives and practices.

At present we offer as well Master's and Doctoral Degrees in Transformative Learning Studies. The TLC presently serves as the coordination for the North American Alliance for Popular and Adult Education's Environmental Popular Education Network and works closely with the International Council for Adult Education's Learning and Environmental Action Network.

The TLC is also developing studies in Global Networking and issues around the global 'social economy'. We are working on a manual for 'Environmental Popular Education' which is designed to link popular education with environmental activism in community settings in English-speaking Canada at present.
