It is traditionally made of bamboo, but versions now exist in wood and plastic. It was used by the monks of the Fuke sect of Zen Buddhism in the practice of suizen (blowing meditation). About the Configuration numbers below ... If you dont understand what these numbers are below then I suggest you dont change them. These numbers are the default Percentage values for 10 mm finger holes - I start with a 6 mm drill bit and slowly carve the hole bigger. The reasons I do Not sell flutes are many. For one, I do not feel that my flutes are yet worthy of sale, there are other flute makers who offer excellent shakuhachi at affordable price. For example: Perry Yung - yungflutes.com


Traditional Shakuhachi are healing flutes and that has to do with self empowerment.
