There isn't a better way than war, and the situation is much more serious than it appears--not because Saddam has the devastating weapons the administration fears, but because of what is happening in the world of oil. It graves me to think that thinking like this is what got us in this mess. We have other ways that they are preventing from becoming another energy use. Please be aware that this is Whitley's view, not necessarily my own. My own view: I'm extremely torn by what I see going on. I have a deep revulsion to war, Yet I'm somewhat convinced by what I hear from friends who are more in the know than I am about the core Iraq-realted issues. Something rather drastic needs to be done. So I have a real internal conflict about this. To me the critical thing is Bush's motivation. Why is he so eager to go to war? And what are the side activities in his administration, accompanying this war effort. That concerns me as much as the actual war vs peace issue itself. In the longer term, it seems to me that this is about the survival of democracy, the survival of the earth's environment, the conscious evolution (See Barbara Marx-Hubbard), and the coming changes. Saddam controls by fear, so does the Bush administration. apparently Whitley likes it so much he's trying it on his readers. This is all about controlling the planet and bringing in new laws to control the people.
