One Seeker's Journey: 'Earthquakes in various places'
 'Earthquakes in various places'6 comments

I was struck in the last couple of days between the correspondence of recent events, and the passage in the book of Matthew - Mt 24:6-8.

In the NIV Bible this passage reads as follows:
"You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains."

The words "earthquakes in various places" and "wars and rumors of wars" struck a cord within me. I noted several news articles, nicely summarized on Whitley Striebers Unknown Country website:

- Earthquake Swarm Strikes China

- 'Great' Quake has Earth Vibrating

- Strongest quake in forty years rocks Asia [CL Note: This was just the first hint of the gigantic disaster of the Indian Ocean Tsunami.]

- World's Largest Quake in 4 Years Hits Off Tasmania [Note: This was a few days before the Indian Ocean earthquake and Tsunami.

- Quake Swarm Under San Andreas Concerns Scientists

As for "wars and rumors of wars" and "Nation will rise against nation", I don't think that this needs too many more additional words. One look at the news pretty much sums up the state of the world. But a Google search yielded the following on the phrase: "Wars and Rumors of wars". In addition this Google search was on "Military action December 2004". So it appears that we have lots of "wars and rumors of wars" to consider here...

So what does this mean? What, if anything is the relathioship of current events to these descriptioins in Mt24? And what does it mean? While I certainly don't know the answer, it definitely gets one to thinking.

But what I find most interesting is the last phrase in the passage: "All these are the beginning of birth pains."
The term "birth" is the most intriguing part of the whole concept. I wonder if, for all of the non-positive things we see occurring, what we are really seeing is the birth of a new world.

One would like to think that we are are in the process of rebirthing our consciousness...LOL...to a higher vibration....conscious evolution.

I also think it is very humbling for any of us that might feel sorry for ourselves to look at the suffering around the world (war, starvation, slavery, natural disasters). Our suffering is tiny compared to much of the world.

CL Note:
Wow, you are certainly correct there.
I am floored by the amount and the power of stuff that is going on out there. The suffering that is being borne by some people/areas in the world is incredible.
Thank you for your comment.

....this is all about rebirth. As we move into a higher level of consciousness so does the universe we live in. We are moving down this path together...and with all of the suffering there are glimpses of change.

In Sri Lanka as an example the Tamil Tigers who have raged wars for ever (or so it seems) are working together with those they were trying to kill just a week ago in a common cause. A result of mother nature in all her fury forcing us to to take stock. Let us pray that with each act of devastation that some good emerges. We have people of different cultures, different religions who have been on opposite sides bonding. Let us build on this. This way it makes what has happened serve a purpose - and that is finally peace and harmony.

Blessings...

The wonder is the process, a magical unfolding within the Sacred Now.
The Wonder in my view is that there is any wonder at all. These are the times of all the great prophecy, this is the time of awakening to the resolution of the paradox. The one that is many and the unity inherent within the diversity, this phenomena is the wonder. We are the ones expressing the ONE "I AM" which is ALL empowering.

Blessings for you in this year of great awakening Craig.
