It's about time, lol. I mean why didnt they just come out and say it when they got the pic of the caves and croped them out.

My understanding is that NASA has issued a statement denying that their scientists have made claims of present martian life. Here is their most recent release which I got from Space.com:

"NASA does not have any observational data from any current Mars missions that supports this claim. The work by the scientists mentioned in the reports cannot be used to directly infer anything about life on Mars, but may help formulate the strategy for how to search for martian life. Their research concerns extreme environments on Earth as analogs of possible environments on Mars. No research paper has been submitted by them to any scientific journal asserting martian life."

So draw whatever conclusions you will from this. Was the original statement wrong? Or was the info correct initially, and now NASA is covering it up - for whatever reason...? I really don't know, but for better or for worse, the NASA'oids seem to be far more conservative than the Eurpoean Space Agency.

Was going to add it to the bottom, but no need , thanks craig :} Well Linda Howe from earthfiles.com, did a couple of interviews with a suposed ESA scientist, and he was addament that the methane is being produced by something, and he did mention hints of formaldahide as well, he disappered and havent heard anything more since these other scientists. But NASA is telling the truth, that they wouldnt know either way, since they dont have a device to measure that, the Mars Express, and Beagal 2 , were suposed to have that equipment, so NASA cant say either way. ESA can however. :}
