A roundtable project is a collaborative project in which two or more writers participate in the writing of a same story.

This is an example of what the Reference Index for such a story could look like (the format would vary depending on the nature of the project.)

The purpose of such a Reference Index is to serve as an anchor from which all the entries relating to a story can be pulled together and from which new directions can be noted as the participants move along with the project.

TITLE HERE

-----------------------------------------------------

Brief Synopsis

-----------------------------------------------------

PARTICIPANTS HERE:

- Name Here: Job Here (could be the job of writing one specific chapter, or a scene, or a dialogue, or role-playing one of the characters,...)
- Next Name Here: Job Here

- Etc.

LAYOUT HERE
(Basically, the Table of Contents for the story)

- Prologue [link to relevant post]
Brief description and/or instructions to participants.

- Chapter 1 [link to relevant post]
Brief description and/or instructions to participants
- Chapter 2 [link to relevant post]
Brief description and/or instructions to participants
- Next Chapter ...
.............

Depending on the complexity of the project and the nature of the collaboration, the layout may of course become more detailed.

EXAMPLE:

- Chapter 1

- Opening scene (landscape) [link to relevant post]
- Intoduction of Character and monologue [link to relevant post]
- Enters another character [link to relevant post]
- Etc.

The comments section of any given post can be used to some advantage too, especially in a project, where, for instance, participants have decided to each "play-act" a different character and are improvising the dialogue.

Example:

Let's say Invictus and I are writing a story called "Hamlet" (an idea we had about writing a story about a prince in Denmark.) And we are working on a scene where Invictus is Hamlet and I am Polonius. And we are trying to get a dialogue going, back and forth, improvising as we go along. It could very much look something like this:

Slanders sir, for the satirical rogue says here that old men have grey beards, that their face is wrinkled, their eyes purging thick amber and plumtree gum. and that they have plentiful lack of wit, together with most weak hams. All which sir, though I most powerfully and potently believe, yet I hold it not honesty to have it thus set down. For yourself sir shall grow old as I am, if like a crab you could go backward. Though this be madness, yet there is method in't. [Edit]

You're quite useful Francis ; ). This is good. I think this finalizes your redemption as far as using the P-R-E-A... word to describe me goes. You are forgiven. Hee hee hee. The layout and everything... wonderful. I think this is a great place to start from. Like Martha said, I'm sure we'll come up with refinements as we go along. And I am quite properly cast in the part of madness. Good eye...

And the picture? I'm caught in the middle of an ongoing chuckle about that : ). I need to post a new picture on my profile. My hair is much longer and more orderly now. Quite good. The gargoyle... I'll be interested to hear.

I put a long post here several days ago and it is gone now. I noticed it happened also with another comment. Anyway I like you picture francis. Keep up the fun.

I also like the idea presented above and we should try a test run between three or more of us.

Martha,

As you well know your comment is not just gone, it was saved and transferred to another post. And I have explained why I did it and I apologized already for doing it without awaiting your consent to do so.

The purpose of the whole thing was that I expect the present post to be possibly consulted on and off by people interested in putting together a round table and I didn't think that the petty squabble---largely unrelated to the subject at hand--- about whether or not a gargoyle belongs in the above picture really belonged here on this reference template.
