Faery Communication

Faeries communicate with us in a variety of ways, some profound and some profoundly annoying---including dance, music, mimicry, riddles and pranks, signs and symbols.

In communication as with everything else, they exhibit typical faeryness: they are tricksy, elusive, mutable, contrary, and often absurd.

I've learned that humor is very important when dealing with the faeries (or with life itself!). No demon can ever possess us if we maintain the ability to turn and laugh at it. All things absurd, nonlinear, nonsensical, irrational, and madly poetic reveal the secrets of the unconscious and the secret language of Faery.

Wordplay and puns are dear to faeries and demand our true engagement if we are to interpret their meaning. The shapes the faeries clothe themselves in can be considered a kind of language too, holding encoded messages.

The faery will speak to your inner ear to transmit its information by other means: with symbols, shape-shifting transformations, riddles, puns, and absurdities. You must keep your wits about you; hang tightly to the faery's tail for a bumby ride. Communication with a faery may not be a straightforward proposition, but at the heart of the message faeries bestow, you will find profound truth.

Brian Froud has created some of the most respected and highly acknowledged folklore/mythic artwork of out time. He has won numerous awards, including the ASFA Best Interior Illustration and the Hugo award for Best Original Artwork in 1995. Through Froud's unique style (by utilizing acrylics, colored pencil, pastels and ink), he has created some of the most well known fantasy images of the Twenty-first Century. Froud continues to create visual, spiritual and poetic tales that will last many years to come.

Also do take a look at Wendy Froud (Brian's wife.) She worked as a sculptor and puppet builder for Jim Henson for many years, primarily on the films THE DARK CRYSTAL, LABYRINTH and THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. She sculpted "Jen" and "Kira" for THE DARK CRYSTAL and "Yoda" for THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.

Since I was little, the Fey have assisted, in ironic fashion, in 'lightning me up' (as well as in my deepening, read= the Underworld innitiations... the continual paradox!).

They haven't played this one on me for a while, though: a couple months ago, I was especially serious and stressed, and I lost a cap for a Bert's Beez cuticle cream in my car. No one went in the car but me for a few days, and then one day, the cap was just back on!

I appreciate the idea that it is indeed the Wee Folk who add myrth, lyricism and the like to our evolving use of language... thanks for this.

I once read a book about a woman who contacted elves on her property to help her grow grapes for wine. After reading this book I could feel elves around me but not see them, you know they like to gather in groups and move about that way too and sometimes stand ontop of one another. One day in my kitchen they crowded me in a corner so I spoke to them in my head..."go in the living room please your crowding me"...at once I felt them leave when my daughter calls out "Mom elves just ran in here",now I know I wasn't just imagining they were there.

I have had real experiences with Farey folk over the years and now much to my suprize weather it be the good Lord's hand in it or not I am drawing them well trying ....I am going to also write new and inviting songs with them....I believe do you guys know links to keep up on Fairy messages ??
