I knew this girl. We would walk around the asylum together pausing to look at the art work on the walls, looking for all the world like Art Museum patrons, if it weren't for our "inmate" grey sweatsuits. She was really beauitful, and oh yes God spoke through her in a deep far away voice that came through her own vocal chords, but that didn't bother me too much, because her God was kind, and she had a peace that permeated her being that I was desperate for at the time.
Someone must have had a sense of humor when they decided what to hang on the walls, because there were at least 4 or 5 Van Goghs in the mix. More >

With so many stars in the night sky, at least if you live beyond the heavy light pollution that I live under, it helps to have some markers with which to get your bearings. One of the most noticeable of the two constellations up there, are the Orion - Canus Major combination. Orion the hunter, with his bow, and easily noticed belt, followed by his companion dog. Sirius A is hard to miss, being the brightest star in the sky, and of course there is the magnificent pinkish orange beauty of Betelgeuse at the shoulder of Orion. Betelgeuse is the 9th brightest star in our night sky, and the second brightest in the Orion constellation, although it still gets the Alpha designation over the Beta designated Rigel (6th brightest in our night sky), at Orion's left foot. The designations of Alpha and Beta may seem to be juxtaposed, until you realize that sometimes, Betelgeuse is brighter than Rigel. More >

THE WAYFARER'S PATH
The Wayfarer,
Perceiving the pathway to truth,
Was struck with astonishment.
It was thickly grown with weeds.
"Ha", he said,
"I see that none has passed here
In a long time."
Later he saw that each weed
Was a singular knife.
"Well," he mumbled at last,
"Doubtless there are other roads."

I heard the moon rise in your eyes;
smelled the vacuum of space ,
in which they floated.
You tasted my thoughts,
first sweet,
then bitter,
You saw the pain
of my premonition.
We speak in silence now.
Sensing without touch.
Paired in loneliness. More >

Not Quite "Earl Grey hot!" RepRap is an open source project that is said to cost only about €500 to build, and it can rebuild itself! Billed as having "China in the home". I can forsee hooking it into a web based data base with voice recognition eventually, which would take it right to the edge of "Earl Grey Hot", but of course, it wouldn't taste very good.
RepRap on the web.
