Capt. Vasili Borodin: I will live in Montana. And I will marry a round American woman and raise rabbits, and she will cook them for me. And I will have a pickup truck... maybe even a "recreational vehicle." And drive from state to state. Do they let you do that?

Captain Ramius: I suppose.

Capt. Vasili Borodin: No papers?

Captain Ramius: No papers, state to state.

Capt. Vasili Borodin: Well then, in winter I will live in... Arizona. Actually, I think I will need two wives.

Captain Ramius: Oh, at least.

Sometimes in conflicts, it's hard to get anyone to budge from their position, and negotiations between sides, if they exist at all can be very tough going.

Sometimes, what is needed is for one side to take a step in the direction of friendship unilaterally, to build trust between the two sides. That is why this story is good news, news that you won't find on your disaster networks of BBC CNN FOX etc. Well, ok, maybe they did show it, I don't know because I don't watch them. But it is a heartwarming and promising story that should be all over the place.

So here it is...  More >

A Flash from the Past0 comments

Here's a flash from the past. Margaret Thatcher responding to the question of no confidence in Her Majesty's government. 33 minutes of raucous parliamentary debate.

Pure entertainment.

Why can't we have that on this side of the pond, instead of those stuffy state of the union adresses? At one point she says, "I'm enjoying this", and I can tell she really is. I think the opposition did too. I especially like the fellow with the funny wig.

 DXing the Net0 comments

3 Mar 2007 @ 17:43

DXing is the hobby of tuning in and identifying distant radio signals. This basically involves turning a knob until you hear something new and different on your short wave, ham or AM radio. For DXing the internet, this involves using search engines to find the online streams.  More >

It's only a matter of time 'til they get the bomb.

Chimpanzees are capable of making spears to hunt other primates and have been seen using the weapons to apparently kill bushbabies for meat, scientists announced today.

Of course it's possible that the intelligence on this is all wrong, and we are being manipulated into believing this in preparation for an invasion of Senegal.
You know, for the fish, phosphates, and iron ore.

Watch a musician dance circles around three talking heads, one extremely obnoxious toupeed one in particular. Frank was the only true conservative in that room. A 20 year old clip but, frankly, still quite relevant. R.I.P. Frank.

Here's one of those silly internet meme thingees. Feel free to play along if ye wish. Probably won't do much to advance the world into a New Civilization, but then again, it's a small peak inside a small life, I guess.  More >
