However, Your interest to assist me was rather unspecific as a result of which I am quite skeptical in believing that you could be of assistance to me, therefore I would like to be sure of your willingness, trustworthiness and committment to execute this transaction with me,I cannot afford to compromise these virtues considering the money involved,it is necessary for me to be sure of the person to whom I will be entrusting this transaction,my trust is not given out lightly. What I expect from you is trust and commitment,I want this large sum of money transfered with your assistance and you should have nothing to worry about regarding legality AT ALL. I want to know if you are willing to follow up this business seriously before I can give you more details about this transaction, however I shall be waiting for your response and assurance along with your full names and private contacts (ADDRESS, PHONE & FAX). Sincerely, Patrick Chan. --- I can't believe they even bothered after I'd pointed out at least 4 indiscrepencies in the proposal XD 17 Jul 2007 @ 07:09 by Friend @75.108.204.147 : Mr. Patrick K.W. Chan Why can't we get them in trouble with the law? 17 Jul 2007 @ 08:11 by Hershal @75.108.204.147 : Mr. Patrick K.W. Chan I am receiving scam letters almost daily now. What can I do? I'd love to get them all. From: Send an Instant Message "Patrick Chan" Add to Address BookAdd to Address Book Add Mobile Alert To: Undisclosed-Recipient:;@mpls-qmqp-05.inet.qwest.net Subject: EMAIL ME AS SOON AS POSSIBEL Date: Tue, 17 Jul 2007 12:20:59 +0800 Good Day, Let me start by introducing myself. I am Mr. Patrick K.W. Chan (Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer) of the Hang Seng Bank Ltd. I have an obscured business suggestion for you. Before the U.S and Iraqi war our client Gen. Abbas Radhi Ismail who was with the Iraqi forces and also businessman made a numbered fixed deposit for 18 calendar months, with a value of (Twenty Four million Five Hundred Thousand United State Dollars only) in my branch. Upon maturity several notices was sent to him, even during the war which began in 2003. Again after the war has subsided, another notification was sent and still no response came from him. We later find out that the General along with his wife and only daughter had been killed during the war in a bomb blast that hit their home. After further investigation it was also discovered that Gen. Abbas Radhi Ismail did not declare any next of kin in his official papers including the paper work of his bank deposit. And he also confided in me the last time he was at my office that no one except me knew of his deposit in my bank. So, Twenty Four million Five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars is still lying in my bank and no one will ever come forward to claim it. What bothers me most is that according to the laws of my country at the expiration of 5 years the funds will revert to the ownership of the Hong Kong Government if nobody applies to claim the funds. Against this backdrop, my suggestion to you is that I will like you as a foreigner to stand as the next of kin to Gen. Abbas Radhi Ismail so that you will be able to receive his funds. MODALITIES: I want you to know that I have had everything planned out so that we shall come out successful. I have an attorney that will prepare the necessary document that will back you up as the next of kin to Gen. Abbas Radhi Ismail, all that is required from you at this stage is for you to provide me with your Full Names and Address so that the attorney can commence his job. After you have been made the next of kin, the attorney will also file in for claims on your behalf and secure the necessary approval and letter of probate in your favor for the move of the funds to an account that will be provided by you. There is no risk involved at all in this matter, as we are going adopt a legalized method and the attorney will prepare all the necessary documents. Please endeavor to observe utmost discretion in all matters concerning this issue. Once the funds have been transferred to a nominated bank account we shall then share in the ratio of 70% for me, 30% for you. Should you be interested please send me the following: 1. Full names 2. Private phone/fax 3. Current residential address and I will prefer you reach me on my private email address below and finally after that I shall provide you with more details of this operation. Your earliest response to this letter will be appreciated. Kind Regards Mr. Patrick Chan. Then I go browse the web for like and hour and put their address on every junk mail list i can find from porn to viagra. It's like fighting spam with spam ;) 18 Oct 2007 @ 07:23 by random guy @69.208.36.106 : he changed his name The latest email is from "Yuan" Chan. Has it occurred to anyone that this might be a ploy organized either by fugitive bankers to get back the money they embezzled during the Bank of China's Kaiping branch scandal, or by the investigators on that case to probe for information? What would happen if you wrote back and gave them your name, address and phone number? It's not like they have your social security number on file. All they can do is ask you for money. They can't just take it or use your credit to create it. 21 Oct 2007 @ 09:11 by bunky @82.47.71.122 : yuan chan very true but i have replied to these letters to see what happens after a while they want bank details and we all no where that can end up. so i stick with the its a scam. anyone wants to try it out be my guest they cant get much from your email address unless they fancy hacking your account ofcourse which isnt that hard really. 26 Oct 2007 @ 08:59 by neuromancer @59.160.193.34 : hi Motherfucker !!! if he has any of u r cread card info he can valaditate it through phone with the information provided to him... only if the info u provide is correct. 26 Oct 2007 @ 14:28 by jmarc : That may be true but allegations about sexual relations with his mom are strictly rumours. 5 Nov 2007 @ 17:15 by narfy892 @79.77.230.226 : who'd believe it??? Why would he bother trying to give us money? Are they trying to get benefits in the anonymity? Well his name is shone everywhere on the web. I guess if that’s what he’s trying to do, he won’t get very far. 4 Feb 2008 @ 22:25 by Erica @66.178.138.126 : I am interested? well how could he verify for a credit card if I cant even get one? what then what if he really does share all that money? 7 Jun 2008 @ 13:05 by HATE @70.105.153.21 : Wake Up!! It's a scam. If the guy had "this large sum of money" he would use some of it to plant a person here in the states or where ever to help him. Someone he knows he could trust and not just some person he could find with an email address. Wake up!!! 24 Jul 2008 @ 01:05 by Alex @89.201.68.178 : FUN But you know.. looking at all those draft mails sent to you with a difference of 30 seconds - I believe in magick, but non can do such a magic!!! :D It is quiet a much fun to read all these letters, how hard he tries! I heard that somebody was fined for swearing... what a hell - if I send him mesage go screw yourself, then it will be considered as a crime? As I do nightshift at computer, I can mailing with that chocolate eye!! 26 Aug 2008 @ 14:28 by hndrix @59.101.86.115 : he`s for real wait up guys dont slag out on patrick he`s for real.. a real gentlemen. i believed in him and got the 30%. im now living in my mansion surrounded by cash and a bevy of beauties.. I actually googled the name of the dead guy. This is one of the gobs of scamming websites I found. I wanted to know what was going on because like someone else said, I have been getting this crap every single day, at LEAST once a day. I'm getting very annoyed. Maybe I'll go open a bank account and leave nothing in there and then give him the account number.LOL! 14 May 2009 @ 05:19 by Dave @71.232.147.4 : Red Flagged Money This kinda of scam is going on all over not just in e-mails but also on dating sites like cupid.com and the like. They will try ans say anything to get your information. Don't give it out but if you do record everything and send it all to boston@fbi.gov. if they get enough of these e-mails they may be able to track them down and finally bust them. 2 Jan 2010 @ 03:18 by bernardo virago @188.100.26.136 : Patrick Chan People google for "Patrick Chan" after receivement of such a mail. Many hits with the information ´Patrick is a bad guy´ - case clear. BUT - the far smaller amount of delivered mails with equal or similar content with other "identities" becomes less visible then. Old tactics....make noise in the east and attack in the west.....
