16 Jul 2007 @ 15:40 by jmarc : Hello
From Watkins Glen NY public library.

NY gets a bad rap, probably due to the people from the big city, but let me tell you, I've never met the more nicest people in upstate and western Ny than anywhere else.
The adirondacks were nice.
People would pick me up hitch hiking and go ten twenty miles out of their way to drop me off in a place I wanted to be. Someday, maybe I'll write about them all here.

Anyway, I'm recovering from a bad case of poison sumac I got head to toe from pitching camp in the wrong place after dark, on one of my first nights (damned greenhorn!).
I'm helping someone here in this town move into an apartment and resting up at the same time.
The only disappointment so far, besides the skin rash, was that the Amish buggy that went by me didn't give me a ride when I was thumbing. But at least they waved :). See you all around, whenever. Goodbye for now, from NY wine and cherry country.

16 Jul 2007 @ 18:39 by susannahbe : Great !
...not the poison sumac, I meant meeting the nice people etc. ;-)

Look forward to hearing more 'tales from the road' !

love to you, have fun.

But it's great to hear from you and that you're doing well. I've been to the adirondacks in upstate NY and they are beautiful. Yup, not what you'd think when all we usually see of NY is NYC. There's lots of beautiful country up there.

Slowly you'll be collecting enough stories to write your own book. Can't wait to read it! ;)

Keep on Truckin'

hugs

Boy scout pack 83 from State College Pennsylvania picked me up in Adirondack state park after a camp out they had in the lake Placid area. They were in two vans. At first I thought that's a first, two people stopping to pick me up at once, are they going to fight over me? lol. But After I understood the situation and got into the mini van, And was telling them of the people I'd met so far, they said the same thing, "You should write a book". I told them well, google yourselves in about a year, and maybe you'll see something!
And now they shall, at least a small tidbit.

There was the lady in vermont who was on her way to volunteer to open the "radical" bookstore in Montpelier, (radical left, she said, not right, lol), and there was the older gentleman in Lake placid that had run for governor of NY in a small party in '98, and lots of other interesting characters, like "Chippewa Granny" in a big red pickup who went twenty miles out of her way to drop me off, all of them together will make a great story, someday, or short anecdotes for conversation later in life for the grandkids.

Thanks for stopping by ladies.

See ya around.
