Dare To Inquire: Fundamentalist Postmodernism

I actually have met a few fundamentalist postmodernists who espouse the wooly, "whatever" attitude that their hard-assed "fundamentalist materialist" opponents seem to consider so prevalent.

I once had a conversation about science with one such person at a conference I attended. She argued that 'science' just constituted one narrative among many--not necessarily a better one.

"Gravity," she claimed, "is just another story."

I replied that if she thought that the belief in 'gravity' was equivalent to the belief that she could fly if she jumped from the top floor of a high-rise building--without a parachute or bungee cord--the story of her life would probably be a short one.
