As David Horowitz notes:
"Everyone knows there is something strange going on... "

"...when large numbers of individuals are protesting a war that liberated 25 million people from a sadistic monster, and when the Democratic Party has opted out of a war that we are winning and that we have to win."

Jamie Glazov interviews David Horowitz here:

30 Sep 2004 @ 20:16 by vibrani : I think
that what is happening has to do with a few issues: Iraq didn't attack us on 9/11. We have no war with Iraq - it is with terrorists who come from many nations in the Middle East. Therefore, I can agree that the war in Iraq is confusing and not completely justifed. I agree that Saddam should have been removed and it was the best thing for the Iraqi people. In many ways they are worse off living in constant fear, deprived of essentials, and there is chaos. That doesn't solve the issues of terrorism from Syria, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Libya, Yemen, etc. Bush has often said that the war isn't with the people of Iraq - but they are suffering from this war. Troops fighting in Iraq have also been suffering. It sure doesn't help that countries like FRANCE were being bought off by Saddam so as not to get involved.

The war is with Islamists (extremists who issue fatwas and murder in the name of Islam) - and that's where the focus should be. This is the war that must be won because it is a world-wide problem. I also never liked Bush's "Either you are with me, or against me" bullshit. There IS a middle road, there are other alternatives. It's not always either/or.

P.S. I also think Congress should have given their approval before invading Iraq. There is no proof that Saddam had WMD. Even when he sent missiles to Israel, that did inflict damage, there was no nerve gas as he said there was. So it's suspect. I think he used them all up in his attacks on others.

The other effect is that this is polarizing our nation (and the world) and this is bringing to light how people really think and feel about themselves and what kind of a world they/we want.

1 Oct 2004 @ 15:06 by jazzolog : At Least
it would be an "alliance," a holy relationship of agreeable treaty that we Yanks used to be able to use and honor as a method of interacting with other nations. Now we seem more likely just to knock somebody's block off. How's employment back there in your hometown, buddy?

7 Oct 2004 @ 21:23 by jstarrs : The point here is...
...who decides who removes who.

8 Oct 2004 @ 08:24 by b : The point is that we(USA)
already did the regime change and now we must finish it by training and arming a new Iraqi army, border guards, police and a government made up Iraqis to run Iraq. Then US and coalition forces can leave Iraq. The government of Iraq and the Iraqi people must be able to handle the Islamofacists in their midst. When we(USA)are assured that is happening, we can leave.
Hi Bruce...

I partially agree and partially disagree with ninhusag above. Ninhursag is correct that Iraq didn't attack us on 9/11. It is incorrect that Iraq did not give sufficient provocation to go to war against it. There was a plot by Iraq to assassinate Pres Bush senior, which was thwarted. Any attempt to kill a nation's leader or ex-leader is an act of war.

I have heard this trumpeted by democrats as Bush's "real" reason for going to war; and as a criticism! Which I find astonishing... I would lose respect for Pres Bush (junior) if he DIDN'T take down the man who tried to kill his father.

Each of you consider what you would do if someone tried to murder your father. Wouldn't you want that person arrested? And Saddam IS under arrest now, waddayaknow!

I agree with the democrats that 9/11 was just an excuse. But I also agree with the decision to use that excuse to invade Iraq and remove Saddam from power. If only the chinese had the huevos to do the same in North Korea...
cheers
Ed
