"Words appearing in my inbox, started at your fingertips. You are miles away, moments away, a mouse click away."

"Delicate white clouds flow like streamers, the pale blue sky a willing canvas. Sunlight touches everything.
I race to go outside, so that I too can be bathed in those gentle rays. Nature is smiling today."

Image and Words - Susannah Bec
I've just been sorting through some old files stored on my laptop when I came across something I had written a while ago.
It was inspired in part by my computers free virus protection software AVG ([link]).
I like the fact that when it finds a virus, it says that it is healing it, rather than killing it - cool! :-)
Energy builds behind the wall
I cant see a thing but I can feel it all
Dont follow the patterns get off the road
Start to understand who programs the code
The moment you see it, its usually too late
The proverbial pudding is there on your plate
You must sense the inklings as they rise from their source
You must scan your energy fields as a matter of course
AVG you can use on your self,
Protecting your hard drive
Your stability your health
From hackers and frauds
And open back doors
The worms and the trojans have access denied
Viruses from communication, emails that lied
AVG for the self with regular updates
Against all the latest fears and hates
If you are already infected by the notion of sin
It maybe that the virus is living within
To wipe it out you've got to be willing
To run AVG - healing not killing.

When I was younger, life seemed all about what I could 'add to it'. I worked on gaining more knowledge, more experiences, more things.
As I have got older I have noticed the spiral reversing. I am now dropping things, simplifying. I am now editor to my life.
All of the myriad things I had gained knowledge about were cluttering my mind like an overfilled bookcase, crammed with so much stuff that I couldn't find the life affirming classics without moving the trashy novels and gossip mags.
I tidied my shelves, dropped what had served its purpose, let go of the sparkly things that 'looked good' and kept only the things that were dear to my heart, that contained my reflection.
The subjects whittled down from a swarm of interesting things to a few that have stood the test of time. The spotlight beam now narrowed, focused, shining a light on what I need to see. Clear, no distractions, clutter gone.
In my growing, I breathed all these things in. I have now exhaled and am left with only what it truly valid for me.

The ocean is vast and deep
that I float in while I sleep
A thousand fathoms down
A thousand fathoms down
Blue water and black night
waiting for mornings light
A thousand fathoms down
A thousand fathoms down
As dawn lights up the trees
I emerge out of those seas
A thousand fathoms down
A thousand fathoms down
Sometimes it feels insane
that tonight I'll dive again
A thousand fathoms down
A thousand fathoms down
"In dreams, we enter a world that's entirely our own".- Steven Kloves.
Do you remember your dreams?
What do you think about the fact that we lay down periodically and become unconscious for long stretches at a time! :-)
I would love to know other peoples views on this strange phenomena!

Lately I have been thinking about communication and specifically communication online. I realised that to communicate effectively a change in your normal communication method is sometimes needed. It also tells you more about your 'regular' communication style which is usually a pretty automatic thing.
For instance, I have realised that in normal face to face communication, humour and smiles go a long way in making up my persona, and in cyberspace I find it quite limiting that people can't see my facial expressions and I find myself using :-) a lot!! which still doesn't give me what I need.
I find that I have to think more carefully about my words, as something said with a grin and a twinkle in the eye seems to automatically change meaning when just words on a page. The words 'literal' meanings seem to jump out at you and as a 'flat' feature it is easier to read subtext into something that was a 'throwaway' comment.
Perhaps that is something to be explored, just how much visuals and spontaniety have to do with communication. I feel it is a different art, learning how to communicate in a written sense without my normal bolster of smiles and 'delivery'.
It is a learning experience (isn't everything!) and it has made something once quite 'unconscious' become more conscious. In a way, it can help communication to be more deliberate and thought about, as you can rewrite, something that isn't possible with speech. Though that also takes away some of the immediateness (is that a word!) and flow.
I think when you read someone you can pick up on their style and personality though I still find myself using my gut feelings to pick up the 'energy' of what is being said. Some people are very skillful with words and find it easier to express things in writing than in verbal conversation, others are just the opposite.
So is your online 'style' an accurate representation of your personality? do you want it to be? or does the 'mask' that the medium allows help in communication?
I know when I have read back through some of my writing, that it seems to me that I come across as quite serious, as though just one part of my personality is showing, which is perhaps why I have become a bit of a serial blogger, there's a thought - a blog for every subpersonality!
In the end, for me it comes down to finding ways to show 'emotion' or 'heart' rather than 'intellect' and 'mind' which is perhaps why sometimes images are easier for me as they are processed on a more emotional level.
I think that as more and more communication takes place with an interface between us and others, as in texting, emailing, blogging, twittering etc. it is going to call for an evolution in our thinking about true communication.
What do you think? do you find it easy to communicate online? do you think your online persona is an accurate representation of you? Any thoughts?

"All movement is change and I believe that is what keeps us vibrant and alive. We are always in a process of becoming, like a kaleidascope twisted by circumstance to show yet another new and beautiful pattern." - Susannah x
