Revised Copenhagen Statement
Dec 5 2009
Saturday
Canada

It would seem in regards to the climate & environmental issues we now face, we are too dependent upon an unsustainable, wasteful & over-consumptive global model of existence.
We thus, in order to continue, have to redefine and or reinvent ourselves towards a leaner, more natural and organic mode of living and being.
To reduce our carbon footprint thus, is only a start in the process, and we have to at some point as well, reduce our consumptive footprint etc if we are to live in harmony with the Earth.
The greatest effect the average person can have on the issue is really evaluating the methods and ways of their major purchases of say a business, house and car. To ensure that there thus is a certified green component and value in such and such then goes a long way towards the Green Vision as well as doing the little things in their homes such as conserving energy and water and making green purchases and teaching their children the same. Something that might be referred to as Green Economics.
A Global vision of a new Earth paradigm is thus in order to help guide our efforts. A vision which we seem only beginning to craft and see.

No one with any sense, is disputing the fact, that climate change has not been around for millions of years. because it is more or less a fact or truth that climate change has and will always be happening. What is being suggested though , is that the last time it was this severe was about 200000 years ago. Long before humanity was a player on the scene and much longer still than there was such a thing as civilization and a global civilization at that.
What is at issue then is whether or not, we humans as a global society should and perhaps must have some common governmental policies, contingencies and safe guards towards the probable events that such severe climate instability might entail. Events such as flooded coast lines , sinking islands , melting glaciers and poles, increased weather volatility and crop failures loss of lives, etc. Not necessarily tomorrow at noon but over the next 10 to 100 years.
True it will not all be bad and may actually benefit some regions and the planet will probably survive .
Whether humanity as a dominant species will though is not certain and given the apparent ignorance of such that it exhibits, in this current instance, it would seem not.
