Category: Articles 5 comments 13 Dec 2009 @ 03:53 by a-d : What does the word"stigmergy" mean? Do you have any good sites with info about this kind of cities / communities? A lot of cities and (smaller) communites /Towns & such have started to restructure their City plan to be/come more People friendly! and more will!...and the more we all get into such a mode, the more it will happen! :-) Haaa.... I googled your phraze: "sustainable stigmergic paradigm" and I found this link: [link] ...but I still don't know the word "stigmergy" and then... now, all of a sudden I remember Freigoug in Switzerland... knowing that the People there are quite "before their time" so to speak I googled Freibourg and this is what I came up with! [link] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Panorama_Fribourg_107.JPG and then --of course, we have Freiburg of Germany!...(to make things a little more complicated!...;) [link] (interesting reading though! By the time you're finished with both Freibourgs you might be really "cooking"... click on the square that says Acumen Fund (in Freibourg/Switzerland site ...and then you can click on the next square that comes up and more sustainable Ideas will show!... :) 13 Dec 2009 @ 07:34 by swanny @70.65.9.110 : Stigmergy Hey ad well stigmergy is perhaps the way society has developed from the remnants of pieces in the past. ie the building onto what has gone before. heres the wiki def Stigmergy is a mechanism of spontaneous, indirect coordination between agents or actions, where the trace left in the environment by an action stimulates the performance of a subsequent action, by the same or a different agent. Stigmergy is a form of self-organization. It produces complex, apparently intelligent structures, without need for any planning, control, or even communication between the agents. As such it supports efficient collaboration between extremely simple agents, who lack any memory, intelligence or even awareness of each other. It would thus seem that the process is somewhat unconscious and therefore perhaps in need of conscious direction towards a more sustainable model. 13 Dec 2009 @ 07:47 by swanny @70.65.9.110 : An Example I don't really have a good human example of sustainable stigmergy. The natural equivalent in nature for ants is an ant hill. here is my vision perhaps of sorts of a possible human one link one world = [link] 13 Dec 2009 @ 16:45 by a-d : Wonderful! THANK YOU ,Swanny!... yes, now I know exactly what the word means! It is also refered to as "Unconsciously Competent" by some people; Anthony Robbins, for instance. I would use the word/concept of SPONTANEITY!... Spontaneaously doing the Right thing! True spontaneity is one of the higher skills/ tools we get in our God/s Gift-Package at Birth! Soooo Things come out RIGHT without the effort "Conscious direction" as you put it... : ) Cool, very cool! and much needed in our new Community building process! 14 Dec 2009 @ 13:52 by swanny @70.65.9.110 : Tangent Well just off hand I'd say that the human stigmergic impulse has gone off on a somewhat narcissistic tangent. How we pull it back to a more organic and natural course is the question I suppose. Refocus perhaps on the whole rather than the part.
