I hope aid arrives quickly to Haiti and Port Au Prince , they only have 2 or 3 days to reach survivors.
Was the epicenter right at the capital? Perhaps the G20 could convene via teleconference and have
emergency meeting and coordinate a global response.
This is worse the the 2004 Tsunami it would appear.

Hmmm there's no spell check function on the Article Subject Feature?
I suppose it was do for a sequel thread any way
Threads that are to long get a bit tedious to read.

Thank you for being so quick to rectify.

17 Jan 2010 @ 17:17 by swanny @70.65.13.68 : debate
My compliments to the rescuers for debating the digging out of survivors to some degree. In such pulverized rubble and re bar and weights involved digging out is problematic in that one does not to kill oneself and or the victim in the process. Their training and their common sense working hand in hand.

18 Jan 2010 @ 09:24 by swanny @70.65.13.68 : Architecture
The hidden irony in the Haiti crisis is that it would seem most of the people killed or effected were done so not so much by the earthquake itself but by the structures indicative of Western culture, the strong, tall, fixed, concrete buildings and houses and such . It would seem then that if this mostly agricultural society were living more towards an African or indigenous traditions of grass huts and simple structures then it would not have been so decimated. So thus it in a sense represents an inappropriate Western or modern infrastructure in terms of and for the environmental conditions and risks found and known thereof in the region or more so an unsustainable and inappropriate architecture for the environmental reality.

18 Jan 2010 @ 09:54 by swanny @70.65.13.68 : Rebuilding
Well they may need to look at this and other such before they start designing and rebuilding as the deaths seem to have occurred more as a result of the building infrastructure and physicality then the earth quake itself.
