Land of the Free, Home of the Brave?

With Bushtronix going live in Baghdad, surprise visit, and the Patraeus report comeing out, nevermind that he didn't right it, I guess it is high time for me to realise just who I am and stop playing around!

Thanks, though a belated one, for your little gems. They are appreciated by at least one other...

Integral Institute: Simple Chaos

2003-12-02 06:03: comment by swanny on "Integral Institute":
Hmmmm perhaps but it occurred to me the other
day that people have different "tolerances or skills" for
chaos. What might be "order" to one might represent "chaos" to another.
Therefore what might be "chaos" to one might represent "order" to another.
It then occured to me that chaos could be broken down into degrees perhaps and that simple chaos might be the starting point of more complex chaos and or ending point of complex order.
Just some thoughts on chaos.

Sir swan

Dark Night - or Disidentification Crisis: The process you write about

2003-11-29 06:46: comment by swan on "Dark Night - or Disidentification Crisis":
is both a difficult one and a rewarding one. My own processing through shadows at the depth you are describing has gone on at differing degrees for 18 years. What Istvan says above " The integration of of the fragmented soul at times appear as unbearable pain or uncontainable bliss. We have to allow both states to be as indicators of growth.
" is so true. Having gone through the darkness, many times, I am now experiencing more and more joy in my life. We come to accept the balancing of the energies, enjoying the joys and knowing the sorrows won't last forever.

They will eventually be understood by those who can handle the experiencing of the pain caused by letting go of the illusory comforts of the ego, that is, clinging to the idea that the world and God are separate entities and we constantly have to make a choice as to where we belong. The integration of of the fragmented soul at times appear as unbearable pain or uncontainable bliss. We have to allow both states to be as indicators of growth.
Many have described this process and their descriptions are important signposts on this path.
"When you have found the beginning of the Way the star of your soul will show its light; and by that light you will perceive how great is the darkness in which it burns. Mind , heart, brain are all obscure and dark until the first great battle has been won. Be not appalled and terrified by the sight; keep your site fixed on the small light and it will grow. But let the darkness within help you understand the helplessness of those who have seen no light, whose souls are in profound gloom. Blame them not. Shrink not from them, but try to lift a little of the heavy karma of the world; give your aid to the few strong hands that hold back the powers of darkness fron obtaining complete victory. THEN YOU ENTER A PARTNERSHIP OF JOY, WHICH BRINGS INDEED TERRIBLE TOIL AND PROFOUND SADNESS,BUT ALSO A GREAT AND EVER-INCREASING DELIGHT."-Maabel Collins

Dark Night - or Disidentification Crisis: Thanking God

2003-11-29 03:49: comment by tsebastian on "Dark Night - or Disidentification Crisis":
Hmmmm... Just an idea, see if it fits... Maybe the act of "thanking God", in your case, is at the same time a conceptualization of all that is "God" to you and in order to thank "this Godness" you must place it outside yourself. This results in a separation. Try allowing all that is "God" to you to be ONE with you. Abide "in it". Allow it to permeate all that you think of as yourself. Thankfulness is a quality that can dwell within this space. In truth there is no separation. Allow this to BE.
Sebastian

The one thing I learned was, even when my prayers seemed to be answered to my satisfaction, I would thank God, and then next thing you know I felt baren. I then came to the conclusion that not thanking God for the help kind of keeps him/her around. Like I feel now that when I thank God, he/she says "good", then your on your own and I can move on to the next soul. :}

My interpretation of turning the other cheek can even be more specifically described like this: If someone does something to you that makes you feel "bad" emotionally (ie, a reaction) and you take the time to fully feel out this reaction and understand the "truth" in it, the energy becomes available to transform the "identitification" or "attachment" that is being challenged. If you dont get it the first time, "turn the other cheek" and try again. Heh heh
This is not a beginners practice. But it is a way to use everyday life in a transformative way to dismantle automatic responses and return to authenticity.
Sebastian

Blame: Blame, blame

2003-11-20 16:20: comment by ming on "Blame":
Yes, it probably relates quite well to that subject. If somebody stole your car, and you say "There! That's the guy who stole my car!", or you were physically raped and you say "That's the exact guy who raped me!", that will obviously be instrumental in sorting out the crime. But it isn't exactly blame, and certainly not the kind of blame talked about here. It is identifying the perpetrator of a crime.

But if you feel bad about yourself, and you feel just like as if somebody had raped you, even though nobody did, and you look around for somebody who seems to be sort of against you and you say "There! That guy raped me!", then you're engaging in an act of deception. At best self-deception, at worst you're getting somebody else accused of something that isn't their doing.

It is in part an issue of being precise in describing what happened. If you indeed were raped, and you then say "Aha, they raped me, the black people!", that would be a failure in properly identifying cause, and an erroneous generalization, even if the person who raped you happened to be black.

So you've just wiped out the entire justice and mental health system, to name a couple, eh Ming?
2003-11-20 04:30: comment by ming on "Blame":
The type of blame that is unhealthy is when you make other people responsible for YOUR feelings and your actions and reactions. "You made me feel bad!" kind of thing. Or where one group blames another for their condition.

Truth will tend to resolve problems. So, if you find two individuals or two groups blaming each other for their problems, and the situation isn't resolving, it probably wasn't a useful thing to do. Taking responsibility for your own situation, and working things out with others, tends to be most useful.

I think the fingertrap is a good metaphor for that. An individual might not be able to get very far in terms of personal change before he figures out how to get the finger pointed in the right direction.

Blame: Responsibility works both ways

2003-11-19 18:00: comment by vibrani on "Blame":
and turning the other cheek sometimes mean you get both cheeks slapped, so unless I misunderstand your post, do you mean it's okay for us to get slapped time and time again at the expense of someone unwilling to take responsibility? Let's take this current case as an example: We can blame Michael Jackson for being a child sexual predator and we'd probably be right about it, yet he has to be responsible just as the parents who allowed their children to be alone with the man must be responsible. As far as the finger trap thingy goes, relaxation is the way out of it, not struggling and fighting the trap. I think I understand the connection between blame, responsibility and the finger trap: you mean it's our own responsibility to get ourselves out of it. Does that let everyone else off the hook?
