8 Jul 2004 @ 11:48 by scotty : I wonder why 8 Jul 2004 @ 12:34 by spiritseek : perhaps his body was telling him to stop that nonsence cause it hurts. *** Nonsense?! I've learned so much about my mind by experimenting with it that I'm now qualified to experiment with yours! Just kidding. Now I'm trying to manipulate my mind to make my body do things that need to be done to it. Like lose some pounds and get more exercise. 8 Jul 2004 @ 13:35 by spiritseek : ok go ahead my mind could use some exercising.but don't forget a leash as it likes to wander... lol *** I had to leave my "station" and do a few chores and while I was out I was hoping that I han't offended you. I love your sense of humor. 8 Jul 2004 @ 13:55 by scotty : WOW ! if you find a painless way to lose pounds - let me know !*grin* *** I'll be letting everyone know if I do. The frontiers of the mind, it's kinda like the wild west; there's so many possibilities and to think of all of the variables each human has within just boggles my mind. 8 Jul 2004 @ 14:03 by skookum : I am still working on walking and chewing gum at the same time... *grins *** Just what kind of gum are you chewing? Maybe you need to take shorter steps! 9 Jul 2004 @ 00:17 by timrowe : I have enough trouble ... putting my right sock on before my left Dan. ;-) I think I'll work up to adopting your method gradually. Or maybe my subconscious could do with the SHOCK of extreme, alternate, footwear LOL! *** Yeah, habits, we all have so many. I'm constantly playing games on my mind, changing the location of something, just to see whether I will remember the very next time I need to use it. 9 Jul 2004 @ 01:35 by vibrani : Anything we do different from the normal routine is a good exercise - stretches the brain and unsticks us. *** When I grew up, we were so poor that the only thing I had to play with was my imagination. 9 Jul 2004 @ 17:46 by ov : Train Brain Reading a book upside down (the book not yourself), is a good exercise. I've often thought that it would be a good way to teach a child to read with them looking at it right side up and you right across from them. It also makes an empathy bridge by reminding you of how difficult it can be and sometimes they might even help you out with the words. They can also see how your lips move. If you point to the word you are pronouncing they can also make the association between the word and the sound kind of like the bouncing ball on subtext. I mentioned all this at another site one time and they said the practice was quite common in Britian. *** That is fantastic! About a 2 weeks ago I printed out the english alphabet and then turned it 90 degrees clockwise (C.W.) and hung it on my wall. The reason was to learn to recognize the letters of the alphabet in their new position and then start reading books in that position (turned 90 degrees). I wanted to get the feel of how the Asians read. This may be a key aid in assisting the Asian community to learn and read english and to integrate with America. But then we would have to go around and turn all of our signs 90 degrees C.W. At least we would be meeting them "half way." 10 Jul 2004 @ 14:17 by scotty : I'm left handed and I can read quite easily things that are upside down ! When I first started learning to write I used to start at the top right hand of the page and write to the left - the writing was quite clear and distinct but - it was 'mirror' writing - backside foremost!! I took a wee while to get that fixed ! LOL ! Same when I learned to knit - what a job I had - my sister had to figure out a way of reversing what she did so that I could copy it ! Even as an adult when I'm writing letters (yes I still write real letters with pen and ink - envelopes stamps - the works !) I tend to hold the pad at an angle that seems to mystify most right handers ! *** That is very interesting. There's something special about personal letters that just cannot be conveyed in emails!!! I love to write also. I would love to see your handwriting; perhaps I should put my mailing address in my profile. Pen pals?! I discovered, after my first divorce, that under the influence of a certain type of "weed" (which I don't use anymore), I had dyslexia. One day, while under the influence, a question popped into my mind and I opened my bible to review the topic. I couldn't read it! So I went to another verse, which I had memorized, and same thing; I couldn't read it either! Everytime I would get high, which was nearly every day at that time, I would keep reading the verse, that I HAD memorized, over and over. It took one whole month to relearn how to read while under the influence. After that, I discovered an entirely new "problem ." When I would read while under the influence, I had photographic memory of every thing I read. I immediately took a one year sabbatical. I paid my rent for one whole year and bought a years supply of THC. I then began checking out books at the library on any subject that popped into my mind and would read them while under the influence. I pretty much stayed in the altered state of mind for the whole year, from the moment I woke until I went to sleep. When I wasn't reading, I was studying everything in my immediate environment. I even made my window into a one-way mirror and mounted a bird feeder on it. I learned so many things about flying, and birds, I just don't have enough time or space at the moment to tell you about all of the things I learned. 10 Jul 2004 @ 19:25 by scotty : Well ! I for one hope that you manage to find the time and the space SOON ! Dan - you're begining to grow on me !*smile* *** H20Li-(holy) smoke! I'm growing on you? I truly hope I'm not a wart or a pimple whereon you sit!
