19 Jul 2004 @ 01:15, by celestial Icarus Could Have Actually Happened. Unfortunately Icarus didn't have an altimeter. He and his father had crafted wings and flew out of prison. They trained themselves in preparation for their escape. How did they do this? First, they weighed themselves. Icarus weighed one hundred pounds (100 lbs. guestimate). He had two arms so he divided his weight in half figuring he must be able to lift his total body weight with both arms. He laid on his back and began weight lifting training (50 lbs. each hand). Finally, one day, he was able to lift, from an out-stretched position, sixty (60lbs) in each hand, repeatedly, for long periods of time. (He realized he also had to include the weight of the wing apparatus.) Meanwhile, they were constructing their WINGS. They were very excited ! Finally, the day came to leave. They jumped from the prison wall and flew away. His dad told him not to go to high but Icarus didn't listen (or couldn't hear). He caught a thermal current and began to soar, ever and higher and higher. Eventually he soared out of sight. Icarus was so far up into the sky that he reached that realm where there isn't enough oxygen to support life. Icarus passed out. He plunged to the earth and died. Afterwards, seeing something fall out of the sky, people gathered around and observed his dead body. One person observed, "He must have flown too close to the sun; see, his wings are melted." What happened? Icarus passed out and upon re-entry too much heat buildup caused his wings to "melt." So everyone thought he got too close to the sun. But, it was too cold at that altitude for that to happen; his wax wings melted because of re-entry. Today, we're told it isn't possible for human flight because we don't have hollow bones like that of fowl, but I no longer believe this; I think it is possible with proper weight training!

For some reason your titles aren't showing up...and here we don't have an entry either. Nice picture...but don't get too close to the Sun. Should we freeform create in this space?
