A Poem of the Heart.


LOVE'S DECREE
December 28, 1991


Sweet affection's duty, our hearts to knead.

Ardorous love overcomes, tenderly.

Beyond all doubt its fruit does far exceed

Expectations of supreme tyranny.


Relentless swell, this heart my home, my shrine;

What flame is this which shines as polished gold?

It shimmers, glows, and kindles warm designs;

Its pawn am I, unwittingly enrolled.


What's this love, scrawled upon my heart, my scroll?

Sincere words and deeds so queer, strange to me;

They burn as embers deep into my soul.

I can't resist love's marvelous decree.


Supernal precepts calling us, impels;

Abides unseen within our watered wells.

Did this poem come to you when you realized you were in love?

It was in my heart for as long as I can "remember", but I didn't put it into words until I was in prison, falsely charged, so I let them believe the lie they wanted to believe.

Now my Lord has given to me this earth to do unto it as I see fit.
