Vagabond’s Purse

There is nothing left than a vagabond’s purse
Filled with trinkets from many lands
Each at one time treasured
Now just tinkling icons of no value  More >

Ticonderoga! (warning.. long poem! )2 comments
pictureFriday, June 18th 2004
This is based on a true story.

Ticonderoga!

Summer lay still on Cruachan hill in 1755,
The Laird of Inverawe, the Campbell came,
Tae walk ‘mongst the fleur and green.
Sweetness in the air hung heavy about,
Nature sang to all the life untame.
Upon the hill was a fleeing figure seen,
Falling upon Inverawe with a ragged shout.
“Sanctuary Laird or I’ll not stay alive!”  More >

In Her Green Depths

The waltz of kelp to shore reels like a beckoning dance.
“Come to me and ride my rushing tides and my windblown waves”,
I could almost hear her whisper.  More >

Detours

Illumination; that light within
Eluded my flailing reach
Seeking in word and thought
Left me wanting the quick way
I found detours to empty rooms
Now I sought a different path  More >

Blame it on the Moon2 comments

In keeping with my recent theme of planetary wonders...I also have decided to alternate my older stuff with a new poem.. thus getting back into the flow again. I hope some will enjoy my meanderings.

Blame it on the Moon

Can I blame it on the moon?
It sits in it's net of stars and winks at me.
That sly grin mocks my restless mind, chases my shadow.  More >

That Peace

I could sit in a room quietly
Listening to the sighing of breezes passing by the window
Peace spilling over me like melted ice cream
Cool and soft and flowingly clinging to my skin  More >

Venus, Lady

Venus, lady of enchanting guile
Travel o’er the stars awhile
Dance in my heart whilst I sleep
Bring me back to slumbers deep
Take my soul to mysteries womb
Raise my lives from forgotten tomb
Let us stroll ‘long woodland trail
Part the mists and lift the veil
Reveal my truth for all to see
To rest my heart, set it free

Blue Moon Lady

She walks across my spirit
and leaves a trail of echoes calling
"Follow me… follow me"
And in my dark stumbling illusions
Her aura glows amongst the stars
And I am mesmerized
And entranced  More >

Caretakers of the Light

Would my soul be wand’ring still,
Seeking warmth my soul to fill?
Alone amongst the darkened vine,
Feeling chills along the spine.
In the garden a glowing spout,
Seeing hands joined all about.
Fountain of fire to warm us all,
As one by one we heed the call.  More >

Emerald dragon, fierce and gleaming,
Soaring, seeking, snorting, screaming.
Claws outstretched to snatch the foe,
Diving, spinning: vertigo.  More >

Above the Ether Light

I journeyed far to an ocean shore
To see the sun on the other side
I came to see what I hungered for

Dandelion Dancing

I see you out there Dandelion dancing.
Gold petals flinging skyward and squeals of joy,
Punctuating a cavorting puppy's bark.
Fluff balls float to sky's brightened embrace.
And I see you there, full of sweetened grace.
It's been too long since I danced like that.
Are there any left for me?

The light of dawning morning
and the rage of summer rains
were seen in her doe-like eyes.
His smile made her gossamer wings flutter
and her heart almost sigh.
He drifted off to sleep in her cradling arms
and dreamt of another world.  More >

The Elusive Star

The winter evening sky grew all misty-dark
As the moon hid behind the clouds,
Only peeking now and then.
Shadows would travel in their blueness,
then disappear as another wave of gray
hid that smiling orb.  More >

Rests The Folly

Slumbers pillow in form a lover’s dream
Sweet kissing’s befall the midnight air,
To embrace soft bedclothes in lonely emptiness
Substance lost spite ardent prayer.
Reaching out in silent, quiet loneliness
I beseech the sacred to blaspheme  More >

Mouse Love

By the gate the dew dipped threads spun in silent minuets.
While crickets danced and sang like frenzied castanets.
The moon smiled round and stars winked down at the frogs along
the lake.  More >

Before The Mirrored Lake

We dance in the netherworld
You and I before the mirrored lake
Fires in your eyes forsake
Propriety and reason
Into the fiery depths you take me
As I flail helpless in your grasp  More >

 The Far Land1 comment

The far-land journey will send you down
Down you will go to the depths
The deeps
The darks
Creeping into the vine shrouded valleys
Climbing the shale slicing mountains
Will you slide and slink and sink?
Will you die spent and needing drink?
Down you will go to the wilds
The lost
The wanderers
Will there raise a standard flying?
Waving above to lead past the mire?
The sinking
The slinking
Sliding again to the boggy mazes
Watching moonfaced phases
Now the dark, deep valley
Will lose you in her heart
The pain
The quicksand
Who will throw the saving vine?
Will you?
Will I?

Sleep fair warriors through the misty night,
Take shelter from foul creatures of land and flight.
Dream upon the green swirling sea,
Steed of wind, wild and free.
Plummet great cliffs into the fray,
In somnolent battle 'til breaking day.  More >

Like an Unexpected Birdsong

Like and unexpected birdsong from a lonely mountain forest
springs the joy from my heart.
A distant rumbling thunder echoes an ever-growing internal storm
The streams and lakes mirror the rush and calm of your eyes
that look back to mine,
Your eyes send the light into eternal beckoning.

May the hidden glens and meadows
protect the gentle breezes that sigh in the eventide.
Birch and ash and oak and pine in their own glorious way
stand in sentinel silence like your firm peaceful soul.
Be gentle as the night slowly descends to rest upon the sleeping day
and the rousing darkness.

There you are amongst the stars that hold all things
in my waiting quietude.
I wait,
I wait
Forever hearing the rumble of the storm.

Hidden Treasure

Traveling on the astral winds tonight
I come to see the mists of the dawning tide
There will be calling sirens to tempt my path
Yet I will quest to find the hidden treasure
It lies in the darkened forest
Hiding under a small mushroom
There will lay a tiny stone
I shall wear that glowing, shining stone
When I fly, it will light up the darkness
And I will see your sleeping form
I will gaze at you, remembering your touch
You tempt me to glide down beside you
And let my weary soul rest
Against your warm, loving heart.
In parting, I leave you a gift
May its light bring you peace.
