The Haunted Looking Glass

An Irish lass peered into the past
With a haunted looking glass

Storms and furies met her eyes
Faeries and dragons filled the skies
Filling her mind with fearsome cries.

The sights so fractured the tender child
Whose visions drove her insanely wild
She screamed to heaven to let her go,
To that faerie land of light and woe.
A dangerous wish as you well know.

The gods looked o’er at her small self
And opened the earth, a canyon’d shelf
She fell into the terror’s unknown night
A journey becoming a nightmare’s flight
Lost forever with an unknown plight.

Where she was once, there was naught
Into the magic she has been caught
No sign was left that she’d been there
Not a torn skirt, nae a stray hair
None ever seen of the lady fair.
