Let Slumbers Lie
I found you in my dark wanderings
All brash and thrash and bold swag
You followed me to my hiding place
I turned and saw you face to face
I backed away and you advanced
I turned my face so I’d not see
We ought not to be together here
Your eyes too wild, my heart too near
If there was a hiding place, I’d flee
But there is no such place, you see
You’ve found me out and I am lost
Such honesty borne at such a cost
Will you not let my slumbers lie,
Peaceful, in softer arms to rest?
Such rough passions leave me weak
Yet in the daylight, we never speak
