I am a Chrysalis

I am a chrysalis closed tight
Embraced by a thin shell
As I grow, twist, evolve
I see the world beyond my haven
Colored by crisp blues and greens
Pressing against the walls

Faint sounds drift toward me
Strains of music, sighs of love
Closing my eyes I listen
Dreaming of my turn outside
Wondering about it all

When I am borne to newness
All this shall become my heart
I shall know each creature
It’s color, it’s voice, and it’s life
I will be part of it all

Bear me hence to the edge of life
Where we all meet again
Face to face and all knowing
Man, creature, sky and earth
Together in love and eternally one
