23 Jan 2005 @ 07:41 by vaxen : certainly. 23 Jan 2005 @ 19:39 by spiritseek : the test wasn't all the impressive but perhaps another location of the brain would help. I would like to see the right side tested for higher spiritual awareness! 23 Jan 2005 @ 19:49 by skookum : thank you both for giving me some input. I have no intention of getting zapped by one of those things lol... I have a hemisynch cd which has music and tones.. I use it sometimes and have found it helps me to ground and center a bit. I have not found it harmful in any way. This sort of thing fascinates me, but it can obviously be used for detriment by the unscrupulous I imagine. Most anything can it seems. Religious experience.. now that was an interesting idea. You can make an arm jump too with proper stimuli etc, but are religious experiences all hokey merely because one can stimulate the part of the brain that is receptive to it? Science would love to make us all machines wouldn't they? 23 Jan 2005 @ 19:54 by jmarc : Ray Kurzweil was on c2c last night(on my radio, it may have been a rerun). He seems to think that the melding of human and machine is a natural progression of human developement. Cyborgery is here, now, and can only get better. Wouldn't you like to be able to download Spanish 101, as an example, directly into your brain? How about nanobots that keep your brain cells and neurotransmitters in tip top shape? How about being able to technopathize with your friends and loved ones from great distances like, say, from Titan I to Earth II? Oh, I quite agree with the 'religious' experience. I've had a lot of them in my life. SOme induced by so called 'artificial means' and others induced by methods considered by old status quo to be more 'acceptible. You know, meditation and the like. I think hemisynchs stuff is great but you've gotta be careful with that stuff, too. I look forward to the mergence just like I look forward to deep space and eternal life and...I don't feel that for Galactical Civilizations advances in mind machine melding is to be feared but rather to be cultivated. After all is said and done we are spirits in bodies so this body is a tool. Lets enhance it as far as we can go. No god owns us! Regardless of what they like to make you believe. Here is an interesting link you may enjoy: [link] 27 Jan 2005 @ 08:14 by skookum : Yes I can see the good implication of it all. I guess what we have to be aware of is the negative possiblities and try our best to reduce that path. See you on the ship...I will be in the rec room in the mud baths....want to join me?
