Dream of the Waning Moon

Sleep the dream of the waning moon
Waxing high to a shepherd’s tune

Glowing above the soft high grass
Lighting the eyes of a lad and lass

Stars fly into midnight bliss
Falling at each stolen kiss
Smiling moon at passion’s gate
Until at last they find their fate

Sleep fair ones the moon has gone
Trailing behind a night bird’s song
Repose as closing eyes now dim
Soft in the arms of seraphim
