The walls were twinkling with that odd light and the mud smelled earthy, but clean. ...

Moira was tempted for a moment to join him in the bubbling ooze, but thought better of it considering his mischievous expression.

His face suddenly lost it's mirth and he gazed down one of the tunnels to his left.

"Princess, I have a feeling we'd better get moving. Do you mind averting your gaze whilst I get out of this mud?"

She smiled at that fact that his shyness seemed so unlike his usual demeanor. She heard sucking and splashing sounds and could hear him rinsing under a nearby trickle of water that came off a large overhang. After some rustling he said. "Ok you can look now."

She turned around and saw him adjusting his sash and weapons. He grabbed his pack and motioned her to follow him down the rightmost tunnel. They creeped along softly until a sound of voices reached them.

"Toad, er.. I mean Gregory...who is that?"

"Shh..Princess.We'd better keep quiet until we know who they are."

The voices settled into some kind of chant. The little man paled and stuck out his arm to stop her. "I hope you are good at diplomacy Princess...or we are in deep trouble."

Suddenly before and behind them were tall figures. They towered to a height of at least 8 feet. Giants; by any standards of her world. Their chanting stopped as soon as they saw the odd looking man and the wild- haired young woman.

"Great, just great!" thought Moira, praying she could get out of this one in one piece.

They stood in flowing robes that shimmered slightly as they moved, almost like spiderwebs in the morning dew. They held various objects. One held a large bowl with some kind of liquid that was emitting a pale lavender light and an odd mist trailing down from it.

Another figure held a large staff. It had huge stones put into the carved wood. They were of various colors and sparkled as he moved the staff. The others seemed to be holding a single stone that glowed.

One approached them in the semi-darkness and stood before Moira. His face seemed much older than the rest. His voice said in a deep whisper,"We have been waiting for you. Come this way, for you are in danger if you stay here."

Moira and Gregory glanced at each other and hastily followed the huge strides of the giants that led the way. A slow rumble shuddered through the caverns and they picked up the pace to keep up. The temperature started to rise and Moira started to perspire heavily.

Gregory, who was walking behind her, wrinkled his nose. "You should taken a mud bath Princess.
