you know what I mean
In the Garden
by Marissa A Spencer
In the garden at twilight a hush creeps up to me
A faceless knowing in the stillness watches
It lets the cool descend to the ground softly
Unseen eyes settle to guard the evening
The moment between day and night arrives
The day birds hush and settle into their nests
The night creatures yawn , stretch and uncoil
A network of thin strands of light shoot past
It forms a grid of energies trembling, glowing
Shoot! Fly! Zoom! Screech! Trill! Snap!
The night awakens from its diurnal nap
and I sit watching in wonderment
How could I possibly sleep now?
