THE FOREST GREEN: Black Friday... seems to be so true.
Black Friday... seems to be so true. 7 comments

I do SO know that the day after Thanksgiving is the first official start of the Christmas shopping season...

The death and injuries attributed to Black Friday at an New York WalMart are terrible. My condolences to those and their families. I just want to know where security was. I know here in my town they had plenty of police etc. to keep things relatively sane. Just makes me shake my head that something like this would need security measures in the first place. Whose idea was this Black Friday thing anyway? Are they freakin' nuts? Are WE nuts? My only answer is "most likely".

Oddly enough though is that no one in my family was ever into participating in it. I hate crowds of shoppers... actually don't like shopping in a crowded store. Not even for bargains, which usually they are 'out of' and willing to 'substitute' with a less choice option (usually more expensive). I supposed if you are really into getting the jolly ho ho ho spirit going...you could do it by shopping. I found I got much more out of the beginning of Yule season by getting things tidy after the big meal. I did put out a few decorations. Let us not get too hasty. Let the season grow and bloom gently. Every day I will add just a wee bit more to the holiday cheer.

I prefer to go into this season quietly. Let me put my feet up for a bit.. have some eggnog and brandy and RELAX. Now THAT is what I call holiday cheer.

I almost posted that article on my blog . Our Wal-Marts where I live in Colorado, Denver are open 24 hours I can't imagine a crowd like that. I do most of my shopping online. Considering we have all year to be shopping for this one day. I do believe we this is proof that the human race is insane. In case I don't get the chance had a wonderful holiday season.

Twas the day after Thanksgiving
And all thru the land
Big box stores and shopping
Were all in demand

An associate of Wal-Mart
I clocked in at four
Got me some coffee
and went to the door

The crowd had assembled
five and ten deep
Wanting to buy Christmas
and get it on the cheap

At five in the morning
I heard a huge roar
The crowd it appeared
Had busted the door

They pushed and they tugged
And they knocked me to the ground
Almost unconscious
I couldn't make a sound

Wal-Mart oh Wal-Mart
This is my creed
These people have killed me
Because of your greed

This story is sad
And now it's complete
Trampled to death
'Neath mad shoppers feet

What should be the time
Of brotherly love
Has ended for me
Amidst the push and the shove

As I lay on the floor
Gasping for breath
Enjoy your shopping
Don't fret o'er my death

I don't shop at Wally World myself. I prefer small shops. You know, if Walmart stopped buying from the Chinese, they could single handedly bring the Chinese economy to ruins?

I bet you could be right! I shop there because I can't really afford to shop anywhere else.. and they have what I need in one place. Time and money... haven't yet figured a way to save more than I have on those issues.
