22 Jul 2004 @ 09:18 by spiritseek : great news 22 Jul 2004 @ 10:23 by ov : Canada & Marijuana Thanks Marie. I fixed that link, I usually always check my links before publishing but I obviously forgot this time. No, I wasn't under the influence, in fact I've quit because I don't know how to have just a little bit, in the same way that alcoholics can't be just social drinkers. 22 Jul 2004 @ 11:06 by spiritseek : recognizing the problem leads to recovery. I understand this because I'm a non-drinking alcholic. 22 Jul 2004 @ 11:18 by ov : Canada & Marijuna From some things I've heard recently on the radio it sounds like one percent of the population are chronics, smoke the stuff every day. I would think that not all of those are potheads, if that be the equivalent to an alcoholic, since they could be merely going through a phase, or taking it for health reasons. Marie did you find that you had to cut ties with all your addiction buddies once you quit? 22 Jul 2004 @ 11:37 by spiritseek : yes I did because the temptation in the beginning is too strong of a pull when your around it and your friends you did it with. 22 Jul 2004 @ 11:43 by ov : Canada & Marijuana Yeah the temptation and then I land up getting pissed off at myself because I'm weak and all that. I found the anger started to switch to my friend when I stopped being tempted but I was still upset that they could afford to sit in my house and smoke drugs but they didn't have the money to pay me back the money that I had loaned them. 22 Jul 2004 @ 12:25 by spiritseek : all to often our choice of drug use causes us to forget other obligations. 22 Jul 2004 @ 12:49 by ov : Forget or Ignore Are chat rooms an addiction that function as a drug? 23 Jul 2004 @ 19:30 by spiritseek : Depends how you use anything,if you use it to an extreme of neglecting things or forgetting things or your obligations,over-use,mood swings, and strong sexual appetite and uncontrolable urges, etc. then anything can be an addiction. 16 Oct 2004 @ 01:45 by ov : Berton's a toker Pierre Berton's celebrity toking tips TORONTO - As Rick Mercer's Monday Report returns to CBC-TV next week, audiences of the weekly satire show will be treated to an interesting demonstration: author, journalist and broadcaster Pierre Berton's tips on rolling a joint. The segment is one of the show's "Celebrity Tip" features, which last season saw actress and activist Shirley Douglas showing the best way to jump-start a car during the winter and Rush's Geddy Lee giving a toboggan lesson. Berton, 84, advises on "a good rolling surface" and rolling a joint "firm, but not too firm." He told the Toronto Star that he has been a recreational marijuana user since the 1960s. "I enjoy the odd joint but I never go overboard," he said. "I smoke about once a month to help me relax." Berton also said he thinks the current marijuana laws are dysfunctional and outdated. "If people who are of age want to have a smoke, let them have a smoke, I say."
