This started in the Unity Wisdom day entry of the Mayan Days category, as a comment, but it was a bit long and more personal than communal, and I'd like to see the Mayan Days migrate to its own blog once it gets established.
I've known about the Mayan for a long time but it was only as an item of interest. There are many things that I find interesting but I don't feel personally attached to them. The Egyptian mthologies fall into that category for me, with Isis and Osiris defining the structure at the start of the patriarchal era and Horus being the emerging story yet to be told at the end of the patriarchal era, which I believe is happening right now. There are so many different philosophies and ideas out there and especially when a person ventures outside of the mainstream, but they don't take on any significance, or motivate a person to become obssesed with them until their is that personal attachment.
My attachment to the Mayan started with the Autumn equinox in 2001, and then has been recently strengthened with a lecture I attended a few days ago. The details of that can be found at MayanMajix.com in the learning lab section of the site.

13th July Duality Earth
Two / Duality

Mysterious as the question, "To be or not to be?" Here is the recognition of the separation of self from all else and the desire to be rejoined. Walking a balance while making choices of all kinds, light/dark, male/female, good/bad, Ying/Yang, is the energy of this number. Experiencing the differences between one and another is the use and purpose of this number's energy.
Earth

July 12th, Unity Wisdom

The beginning of all things. The first. The whole. The all of one. Assertive and self guided, these persons give a good push to whatever project they are associated. One persons work best when meeting a challenge. Do not expect One persons to be attentive to details or put the finishing touches on things.
Wisdom

The old ones. Wisdom of the ancients. Wisdom persons are aligned with the ancient memories that wait in the stone of temples and sacred sites all over the world. Wisdom people grow luck like a crop using a balance of prudence and tenacity. The temendous inner strength of this sign, enables silent introspection to discover areas of oneself that contain wisdom more valuable than any trove of archeological treasures. Wisdom persons are valiant defenders of family and community. They may become hardened to life and sentiment turned cold. In these cases, they need much forgiveness for their uncaring errors. Periodically connecting with nature and or visiting sacred sites will bring great stability to Wisdom persons.

Going from one step to the next higher step. The energy of Thirteen propels the effort to try something new or to try again. Persons with the energy of Thirteen are always going over the next montain just to see what is there. Thirteen carries the last success to the newest effort.
Eagle

Intermediary between Heaven and Earth. Due to the Eagles superior point of view and keen intelligence, they achieve material abundance and good fortune. A messenger gifted with patience and a deep sense of value, Eagle brings hope and trust on the wings of spirit. Eagle persons are very detail oriented and technically inclined. Compassionate service to others sustains prosperity for Eagle persons as the flapping of wings would sustian his bird brothers. If Eagle becomes viscously competitive or possessive, greed and jealousy cause a fall from the heights. Eagles, being blessed with freedom of movement, should be aware of escapism. Eagles may be tempted to just fly away from troubles by using indulgences.

July 10th, Twelve Jaguar

This numbers energy is a gift of great capability of retrospection. It is this ability that allows Twelve to connect disassociated parts into a (new) functioning whole. The energy of Twelve is that which presents a new piece of understood information or accumulated experience to be applied.
Jaguar

Born with a deep love of Mother Earth, Jaguar or shaman, is directly tied to the source of all Earth magic. They possess great power of intellect and strength of charactr through integrity. Jaguar energy is feminine in nature and is the ruling spirit of jungles, plains and mountains. The spirit of Jaguar inhabits the Mayan temples and is called on to assist in spiritual as well as in material ways. Jaguar is also the god/goddess of gratefulness. Patience born of strength and skill can turn to pounce of quick decision and action. Both bold and stealthful, Jaguars do not often attack directly and communications from them usually contain some mystery. In the absence of integrity, Jaguars power corrupts becoming a search for wealth and fame.

The cosmic orgasm is still a go but that little date with destiny hasn't even got to the restaurant yet so please be patient. Update as of 2007, I think we're at the restaurant. Passion plays out best with patience. Then again, the speed with which this is unfolding we might just have to sweep the dishes off the table and go for it. hehehe
