In North America along the Colorado River from Nevada to the Gulf of California are more than 200 huge figures. One such figure is 176 feet in length. Over 600 geoglyphs have been discovered in the southwest United States and nearby areas of Mexico. The first to be discovered was the giant near Blythe, California by a pilot in 1923. Like the Nazca figures, the Blythe effigies are large and give the impression they were designed to be viewed from the air. Also in common with the Nazca figures, clearing away the surface gravel to expose the lighter-colored soil formed the geoglyphs. Although they are thought to date from a much later period (Setzler 1952), none of the Blythe figures match the size of the largest Nazca drawings. Also the human figures and horse like creatures are much cruder in form, typically having solid-area bodies and sticklike appendages, somewhat similar to some of the Chilean effigies. At China Lake, California, a great star burst can be found and the giant of Paradise Valley in Southwestern Montana that is around 1,287 ft. long with an arm span of about 330 ft! We can also move to Ohio and the Great Serpent Mound. Found just north of Quartzite, Arizona, is the Bouse Fisherman:

The English geoglyphs, like the White Horse of Uffington, England, are mostly chalk figures. In Oxfordshire, England, a layer of soil and mossy vegetation was chipped away in the shape of a 360-foot-long horse to reveal the white, underlying chalk. These require constant maintenance to stop them disappearing back beneath grass and soil. This lack of durability means that many others are bound to have disappeared centuries ago. Who knows how many have been lost to us through the years?

Why were these designed? It would seem logical that these ancient civilizations had much more to be concerned with then giant works of art. Were they messages to their Gods? Possible since most appear to be best viewed from the sky or at great distances. Were they a remembrance of ancient times before them when flight was possible? Around the world there are references of great-lost knowledge and a powerful civilization, ancient even to those we now consider ancient. Atlantis perhaps? Is there a connection binding them we have yet to understand?

New thought is finally emerging in the study of sacred, ancient mysteries and the way these stories appear to be repeating themselves. With thousands of amateur and professional archaeologists sharing discoveries online, similarities are being discovered in some Native American rock-art symbolism and that found in other parts of the world. This means ancient people from other cultures could have migrated here thousands of years ago (or vice versa).

Most interesting are those experts who find geoglyphs interpretation that parallels myth and legend found in all of humanity. This suggest that all cultures on earth had origin from a common influence or had contact long before currently believed.

In this section we will take a closer look at some of the remarkable geoglyphs, the regions around them and explore the many possibilities. Open your minds to old thinking, new ideas and what we have yet to even imagine.

Other articles in this series:

The
Giant Candelabra of the Andes

Atacama
Geoglyphs

SW
Desert Geoglyphs of North America

Nazca
Lines

Crystal's recording information and retaining it for future use? Impossible! Not really, at this moment you are reading information that I placed on a computer and then stored in a 'world' called the 'net'. I am able to do that and you are able to read it, with the help of sliced quartz microchips in the computers.

DaEl describes both Rainbow and Madre as such recorders. It has also been reported that the Mitchell-Hedges Skull has this ability. Why don't the others show the same properties? Are they broken like a corrupted hard drive on a computer? I don't believe so. Each skull is made with different types of crystal. Would it be so 'out of the box' to think that a civilization who could produce such effects would actually know what they were doing? Different types of quartz have different 'frequencies' or 'vibrations' unique to their composition. It only makes sense that the creators of these remarkable artifacts would have understanding of that fact.
In one of our e-mails I proposed the following to Mr. Walker:

[Discussing Rainbow] "You describe her as a 'recorder', which I have read much about. I read that you have learned to use colors/sounds to operate her & that you have learned enough to be able to stop & then continue on the same sequence of info using these techniques. Ok, well turning on a computer is easy enough, roaming the web...not to difficult, learning html, java, php, etc... a lot harder but I have done it so it doesn't take a specialist, just effort & desire. I am thinking the same for Rainbow & the others as well. If we relate them to computers storing info, then they need to be usable by the general population of whoever created them. This would just be common sense. We also, in today's world, have many different types of computers. I can operate mine, but would be lost on some government mega-puter or a doctors ultrasound. With time & patience I could figure them out, but without instructions it would be extreemly difficult."

Mr. Walker responded with similar thoughts:

"…My impression is there is so much information inside this skull it releases new stuff each time. It is like a computer but unlike any computer I know. It stores information in photographable images yet these images are activated with the mind with the aid of certain sensory triggers..." "do not believe these skulls will ever be usable by the general public. They are specialized to be activated by certain people's minds..." "...I have had no knowledge of any of the ancient skulls acting as though they are overloaded." ...

Shaidurov has used a detailed analysis of the mean temperature change by year for the last 140 years and explains that there was a slight decrease in temperature until the early twentieth century. This flies in the face of current global warming theories that blame a rise in temperature on rising carbon dioxide emissions since the start of the industrial revolution. Shaidurov, however, suggests that the rise, which began between 1906 and 1909, could have had a very different cause, which he believes was the massive Tunguska Event, which rocked a remote part of Siberia, northwest of Lake Baikal on the 30th June 1908.

The Tunguska Event, sometimes known as the Tungus Meteorite is thought to have resulted from an asteroid or comet entering the earth’s atmosphere and exploding. The event released as much energy as fifteen one-megaton atomic bombs. As well as blasting an enormous amount of dust into the atmosphere, felling 60 million trees over an area of more than 2000 square kilometres. Shaidurov suggests that this explosion would have caused "considerable stirring of the high layers of atmosphere and change its structure." Such meteoric disruption was the trigger for the subsequent rise in global temperatures.

Global warming is thought to be caused by the "greenhouse effect". Energy from the sun reaches the earth’s surface and warms it, without the greenhouse effect most of this energy is then lost as the heat radiates back into space. However, the presence of so-called greenhouse gases at high altitude absorb much of this energy and then radiate a proportion back towards the earth’s surface. Causing temperatures to rise.

Many natural gases and some of those released by conventional power stations, vehicle and aircraft exhausts act as greenhouse gases. Carbon dioxide, natural gas, or methane, and chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) are all potent greenhouse gases. Carbon dioxide and methane are found naturally in the atmosphere, but it is the gradual rise in levels of these gases since the industrial revolution, and in particular the beginning of the twentieth century, that scientists have blamed for the gradual rise in recorded global temperature. Attempts to reverse global warming, such as the Kyoto Protocol, have centred on controlling and even reducing CO2 emissions.

However, the most potent greenhouse gas is water, explains Shaidurov and it is this compound on which his study focuses. According to Shaidurov, only small changes in the atmospheric levels of water, in the form of vapour and ice crystals can contribute to significant changes to the temperature of the earth’s surface, which far outweighs the effects of carbon dioxide and other gases released by human activities. Just a rise of 1% of water vapour could raise the global average temperature of Earth’s surface more then 4 degrees Celsius.

The role of water vapour in controlling our planet’s temperature was hinted at almost 150 years ago by Irish scientist John Tyndall. Tyndall, who also provided an explanation as to why the sky is blue, explained the problem: "The strongest radiant heat absorber, is the most important gas controlling Earth’s temperature. Without water vapour, he wrote, the Earth’s surface would be ’held fast in the iron grip of frost’." Thin clouds at high altitude allow sunlight to reach the earth’s surface, but reflect back radiated heat, acting as an insulating greenhouse layer.

Water vapour levels are even less within our control than CO2 levels. According to Andrew E. Dessler of the Texas A & M University writing in ’The Science and Politics of Global Climate Change’, "Human activities do not control all greenhouse gases, however. The most powerful greenhouse gas in the atmosphere is water vapour, he says, "Human activities have little direct control over its atmospheric abundance, which is controlled instead by the worldwide balance between evaporation from the oceans and precipitation."

As such, Shaidurov has concluded that only an enormous natural phenomenon, such as an asteroid or comet impact or airburst, could seriously disturb atmospheric water levels, destroying persistent so-called ’silver’, or noctilucent, clouds composed of ice crystals in the high altitude mesosphere (50 to 85km). The Tunguska Event was just such an event, and coincides with the period of time during which global temperatures appear to have been rising the most steadily - the twentieth century. There are many hypothetical mechanisms of how this mesosphere catastrophe might have occurred, and future research is needed to provide a definitive answer.

Professor Vladimir Shaidurov is an expert in Numerical Analysis and Mathematical Modelling, and the Corresponding member of Russian Academy of Sciences. For development of multigrid methods he achieved the highest Russian prize in science (together with Profs Fedorenko and Bachvalov) - the State Prize (2004).
Being much to long to add here, I will tease you with some info and provide the links as always.

Building with Stones
...Well, it seems that most of what we look at today is what is considered to be the third phase in a long history of construction. So why is it conceived that the ancient builders went thru phases 1 & 2 just to tear apart what they had accomplished? Job security perhaps? I doubt it. The bluestones alone are believed to have traveled over 240 miles before arriving on location to be expertly placed without the aid of today’s tools and machinery. The lintels were a feat comparable to the arrival of the stones to the site. Stonehenge lintels that form a complete circle. Shaping the lintels so that they remained flat but still formed a gentle circle needed architectural techniques that were very advanced for the time period. In addition to this, these top stones were attached to the pillars in a technique still being used by carpenters today: mortise-and-tenon joints. The top of the upright stones are shaped with a protruding section called a tenon. The tenon fits perfectly into a carved out mortise in the lintel to form a stable joint.
I believe the ancient builders had plenty to do to keep them busy for a long while. Mind you, I am not mocking these scientists; in fact I support Discovery strongly with the research they conduct, as well as others working hard in the field to find answers. I do, as always, though question when some of the ‘answers just don’t make sense. So, if in fact, timber structures were built first, why were they removed, what were they for and what did they look like?...

Stones with a Purpose?
...Meteors, comets, air-raid shelters… at 4000BC… well it’s something that would never have occurred to me, but then again, I can’t move 500lbs much less 4 tons and more. How about a calendar designed to predict an eclipse? That is the belief of Gerald Hawkins, let’s visit his thoughts for a minute....
...I am not sure eclipses are something I would focus on in that age. It would diffidently make for some good conversations I’m sure though and seems plausible. The question I really must consider with it, is again, moving the stones more? It seems to me that these same scientists are the ones that believe it takes 600+ people to move a stone and yet they talk of moving them around as if they were small mud balls. Let’s look at some more theories that believe in moving the stones, as you would tear a page off a calendar....

Workers of Stone
...So, who were these ancient builders that left no oral or written history? Who was capable of moving gigantic stones miles to use land so wisely? Who conceived the making of a meeting place, temple, cemetery, almanac, observatory, calendar, map, computer and time machine all in one? The “King of Stonehenge” is one of the most recent finds and is being considered as at least one of the minds behind the construction of Stonehenge.

According to Smithsonian Magazine, in the spring of 2002, archaeologists were nearly finished excavating the site of a planned housing development in Amesbury, a town in southwestern England when they came across a remarkable discovery. ...

Learn a little about these ancient stones or tell me what you think. The fun is in the learning, the ideas & the debates.

Sea :)

"I was driving in a deserted part of a northern state when I started seeing lizard-like things about 2 to 3 feet high standing upright near the sides of the gravel road I was on. They looked 'intelligent,' not like lizards or wild beasts. They seemed to follow me with their heads and eyes. These lizard-like things were really ugly, so I started to drive faster... and I swear the road turned into a light brown packed earth drive, and the trees and such were all different, like nothing I've ever seen anywhere. There were funny-colored plants with curly leaves and vines that smelled funny (I had the window down). The whole scene was unreal and the worst was that small, squat human-like people were around the sides of this earthen trail working and not paying much attention to me. They were gathering big triangular fruits and hitting them with sticks. Some did look at me as I passed in my car and shook their heads as if to say I had made a mistake. I actually wet my pants I was so scared... but I drove out just like I drove in, and suddenly everything was normal."

History is peppered with intriguing tales of people who, for all intents and purposes, inexplicably vanish from the face of the earth without a trace. These stories - some of the most fascinating in the annals of the unexplained - vary from being well-documented to having the flavor of mere legend and folklore. But they are all fascinating because they force us to question the solidity of our existence. Where did these vanished people go? A time portal? Another dimension? Into a UFO? Consider those chilling possibilities as you read these amazing reports:

The Bennington Triangle

Between 1920 and 1950, Bennington, Vermont was the site of several completely unexplained disappearances:

* On December 1, 1949, Mr. Tetford vanished from a crowded bus. Tetford was on his way home to Bennington from a trip to St. Albans, Vermont. Tetford, an ex-soldier who lived in the Soldier's Home in Bennington, was sitting on the bus with 14 other passengers. They all testified to seeing him there, sleeping in his seat. When the bus reached its destination, however, Tetford was gone, although his belongings were still on the luggage rack and a bus timetable lay open on his empty seat. Tetford has never returned or been found. * On December 1, 1946, an 18-year-old student named Paula Welden vanished while taking a walk. Welden was walking along the Long Trail into Glastenbury Mountain. She was seen by a middle-aged couple that was strolling about 100 yards behind her. They lost sight of her when she followed the trail around a rocky outcropping, but when they rounded the outcropping themselves, she was nowhere to be seen. Welden has not been seen nor heard from since. * In mid-October, 1950, 8-year old Paul Jepson disappeared from a farm. Paul's mother, who earned a living as an animal caretaker, left her small son happily playing near a pig sty while she tended to the animals. A short time later, she returned to find him missing. An extensive search of the area proved fruitless. * For more information, see Vanishing Point.

Continued on the A&AC Forum
