Outcomes from the Bonn Unesco-DESD, the UN FCCC and the economic Crisises summits in London overshadowing what it means for and beyond "you" and "me".
This week the City of Bonn of in a state of emergency and axiety, the UN city experienced "hands-on" how the different focus and priorities of all these different sectors and agendas, an experience you can make if you are lucky on a daily basis in New York, Geneva, Paris.
In the press rooms in Bonn you learned that the climate conference is leaving out education and the educators were blamed to ignore climate or economy (just an example).
This is the old story of the blind men and the elephant: all are right and in the wrong when being to attached to their focus and having to picture of the "situation", even avoiding certain words as this would distract and destabilize our sweet isolation. An example: it was impossible to get the word Crisis into UN documents, manifestos and declarations, as "crisis" like in "Climate Crisis" or "Economic Crisis" was excluded from the official vocabulary and so out of sight - but also out of mind and reality?

At Unesco's "Education for Sustainable Development" decade half-time gathering it was great to be with "cultured" people and see with educators how to possibly bridge natural, cultural, lingual diversities and search for ways to broaden public awareness and learners understanding of the environment and how action can help to safe and restore a heavily impacted nature by the human "footprint" [more]

At Unesco's "Education for Sustainable Development" Decade half-time gathering it was great to be with "cultured" and "learned" humanities people and see with educators how to possibly bridge natural, cultural, lingual diversities and search for ways to broaden public awareness and learners understanding of the environment and how action can help to safe and restore a heavily impacted nature by the human "footprint" [more]

New for many was the term "handprint" - a deep thinker and alife practitioneer from the Indian Civil Society has trade marked HAND PRINT (TM)
and outlined: "Reduce footprint, increase handprint"
and that there are concepts like "mindprint" "mindscapes" and "mindbook" around - which can help to bring together the concepts of foot, hand, mind and heart prints...

Grand Challenges...

Delegates were eager to have a new button on the jacket, but this definitely competeted with the green 2005-2014 DESD buttons, and the green Children *** Irak leave.. ***

So what was new in Bonn?
Delegates realized that their impact is not just with their foot, but also with their hands, minds and hearts.

So what was new in Bonn?
The mentioning of not just overconsumptions (greeds vs. needs - Ghandi....) but also "overclaims" and oversimplifications" [link] !!
see also groupthink, clanthink,.... ***********

So what was new in Bonn?
we have decided to make the 10001 Seeds of Change campaign an ongoing one, as old seeds which have been hightlighted 12 years ago have shown their richness and relevance, and new seeds need air time in time of such a media-culture....
and there is a need not just for better communcation and promotion.
The 1001 Dialoges and 10001 Seeds will go on, please see:

So what was new in Bonn?
vocational training and lifelong learning !

So what was new in Bonn?
Orientierungs Rahmen !

watch your words, indicators, images, analogies and metaphors...

who is in charge ? - us !!!

New was that after all the AGENDA hype a new buzz-word became fashionable, which is: "you have to be a DESD project" and too little was heard about the EARTH CHARTA and other overarching exercises.

Please see the Declaration of the UNESCO-DESD from Bonn ******
and wait for the outcomes from the UN-FCCC on April 8th: ****

Appalling to me was that nearly all movers and drivers were already on the next party: The ESD in May 2009 in Montreal... what a carbon footprint....

Anogther venue is Obamas visit today in Prag - can we develop a global perspective?
and go beyond the uni-lateral, scattered, segregated of the past and leapfrog to shared frames of references. Note plural - many frames, many patterns, many fields, many perspectives !
A good question: see some answers on possible avenues to take:

Council of Europe Prag 1995: Cognitive Panorama [link]
Unesco, Club of Budapest Members Meeting, 1997:
Positions and Identities in Global Contexts:
Awareness of Self and Others with me, you, we, they and "others" models

to make the above a little more real I invite to visit this Letter of Intent which is to bridge not just the Humanities, but worlds and realities, not just simulated, but also stimulated !!, virtual, potential and imagined shared realities: [link]
