Bonn is hosting again one of the milestones of Education for Sustainability events,[link] this time an array of events marking the end to 10 years of Celebrating projects and selfserving promotions. But how to make differences that matters. (see the conference outline under MORE)
Some very practical and even "wise" recommendations have been endorsed. I will add later some links and my afterthoughts of 10 years of "learning".

Education for Sustainable Development in Germany
In 2002 the United Nations (UN) proclaimed the years 2005 to 2014 the World Decade of Education for Sustainable Development. International initiatives intend to help embed the principles of sustainable development in all parts of education worldwide.
UNESCO has been appointed the international lead agency for the Decade. On the basis of a unanimous resolution of the German Parliament, the German Commission for UNESCO (DUK) is implementing the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development in Germany with the support of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development in Germany is being implemented under the patronage of the Federal President of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The Web Portal "Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)" informs about German activities within the field of ESD and the UN Decade "Education for Sustainable Development".
By offering a systematic overview of themes and partners, competitions, newsletters, programmes, and other efforts involving the UN Decade, it facilitates cooperation and networks on the national level, and will be expanded as a worldwide forum to inform users about the implementation of the UN Decade and ESD.
This website is a project of the German Commission for UNESCO, within the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development, and is financed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The English section of this website was funded by the Federal Foundation for the Environment.

Zum Aufbruch in das Weltaktionsprogramm „Bildung für nachhaltige Entwicklung“: Zivilgesellschaft fordert Zukunftsfonds.
Berlin, 30. September 2014. Ein Zukunftsfonds für die Projektförderung soll das ministerielle Klein-Klein der Projektförderung überwinden – dies forderten die Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer des VENRO-Kongresses „Transformative Bildung“ im Vorfeld der heute endenden nationalen Abschlusskonferenz zum Ende der UN-Dekade Bildung für nachhaltige Entwicklung in Bonn.
„Wir brauchen mehr und bessere übergreifende Zusammenarbeit – sowohl bei zivilgesellschaftlichen Organisationen als auch bei den Ministerien“, so Dr. Bernd Bornhorst, Vorsitzender des Verbandes Entwicklungspolitik deutscher Nichtregierungsorganisationen (VENRO). „Für die nationale Umsetzung des geplanten Weltaktionsprogrammes für BNE sollten in gemeinsamen Gremien alle betroffenen Bundesministerien und die Kultusministerkonferenz an einem Tisch sitzen. Dazu gehören neben dem Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung insbesondere die Ministerien für die Bereiche Umwelt, Entwicklung und Jugend. Auch der Zivilgesellschaft darf bei der politischen Ausgestaltung nicht nur eine Nebenrolle zukommen. Wir fordern einen Umsetzungsplan mit konkreten Zielen und Indikatoren, für deren Umsetzung sich alle Akteure stark machen.“
Die Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer machten die sektorübergreifende Zusammenarbeit zum zentralen Thema der Veranstaltung: Neben dem Zukunftsfonds, der übergreifend Projekt- und Strukturförderung ermöglicht, wird unter anderem die Einrichtung von BNE-Berichterstattenden in allen parlamentarischen Ausschüssen gefordert. „Wir brauchen eine Bildung, die sich an dem Ziel einer gesellschaftlichen Transformation orientiert. Wir müssen erkennen, dass wir noch keine Lösungen für zentrale Zukunftsthemen wie den Klimawandel oder weltweite Gerechtigkeitsfragen haben. Diesen Herausforderungen müssen wir deshalb in einer kollektiven Denkanstrengung begegnen“, so Bornhorst weiter.
Das Plenum des VENRO-Kongresses „Transformative Bildung für eine zukunftsfähige Entwicklung“ verabschiedete insgesamt fünf Empfehlungen zur Umsetzung des Weltaktionsprogrammes der UN. VENRO veranstaltete die Konferenz mit 135 Teilnehmenden am 19. und 20. September 2014 in Berlin. Die Empfehlungen sollen in das Abschlussdokument der zweitätigen Konferenz der deutschen UNESCO-Kommission 'UN-Dekade mit Wirkung – 10 Jahre „Bildung für nachhaltige Entwicklung“ in Deutschland' einfließen, die heute in Bonn endet.

Zukunft der Bildung für nachhaltige Entwicklung gemeinsam gestalten
In Bonn ist heute die nationale Konferenz zum Abschluss der UN-Dekade „Bildung für nachhaltige Entwicklung“ (2005 - 2014) zu Ende gegangen. In der gemeinsamen verabschiedeten „Bonner Erklärung 2014“ ziehen 450 Nachhaltigkeitsexperten eine über-wiegend positive Bilanz. Die Initiativen von Politik, Wirtschaft und Zivilgesellschaft in den letzten zehn Jahren hätten bewirkt, dass Bildung für nachhaltige Entwicklung (BNE) in Deutschland kein Nischenkonzept mehr ist

nationale Konferenz zum Abschluss der UN-Dekade "Bildung für nachhaltige Entwicklung" (2005 - 2014). Die Veranstaltung wird vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) als federführendes Ressort in Kooperation mit der Deutschen UNESCO-Kommission ausgerichtet. Während der zweitägigen Veranstaltung, die von der Staatssekretärin im Bundesbildungsministerium, Cornelia Quennet-Thielen, eröffnet wurde, treffen rund 450 nationale und internationale Politiker, Bildungsakteure und Wissenschaftler zusammen, um auf zehn Jahre intensives Engagement in Deutschland zurückzublicken. Gemeinsam werden die Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer ein Abschlussdokument verabschieden. Die "Bonner Erklärung 2014" wird eine Bilanz der UN-Dekade in Deutschland ziehen und Ziele für die Zeit nach dem Ende der UN-Dekade benennen.
