It's that time of the year again where there are all those lovely brussel sprouts. Yuk! I mean, was God having an off-day or what? "Let there be brussel sprouts!" Come on, you can do better than that!

Anyway, here's a wonderful link for friends and enemies of brussel sprouts. Attack of the Sprouts.

Whatever your persuasion, enjoy.

Love EJ

they're good for ya! Itty bitty cabbages. I've grown them a couple times. Had more luck the first time. The last crop didn't come out well. Cut them off the plant, cut an X in the stem part, and steam them. Add butter and salt. Wicked good. Beeelch!

Like Ocra, you don't want to over cook them, mushy and slimmy just dosn't make it. I put lemon juice on them and a little salt and pepper.

4 Nov 2006 @ 11:27 by vector8 : Hi guys
I occasionally eat brussels sprouts if someone else has prepared them with butter but I would NEVER buy them of my own volition, nor would I cook them. I feel the same about cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli. They are the Joe Bloggs of vegetables as far as I'm concerned. :)

I like okra, bushman. My mother cooks okra vegetable sauce; it's a bit of an acquired taste because it is slimy. Good with rice. I've also had okra in curry and it is quite good and has none of the sliminess.

Love to you. :)

4 Nov 2006 @ 12:30 by jmarc : Thank You Enocia
for this enlightening and honest article.

Some people are in denial, and don't want to hear the truth about brussel sprouts.
I filled out my absentee grocery list last night and was informed that brussel sprouts are now on next Tuesday's menue.
With any luck, next week there will be cause to celebrate here, since a quick peek in the fridge this morning also revealed a big green head of cabbage.
You'd best sell any natural gas futures you're holding now, as I expect a glut on the market soon.

(Can you tell it's election season here across the pond?)

[[Some people are in denial, and don't want to hear the truth about brussel sprouts.]]

Too right! Someone has to put them straight! :)

I went grocery shopping with my mother yesterday and guess what she picked out of the freezer? Brussel sprouts, cabbage, brocolli and cauliflower. :(

[[(Can you tell it's election season here across the pond?) ]]

What? Have you got more elections? I only take note when it's your presidential otherwise, who gives a toss? :) By the way, who is the president of America these days? Is it still George Bush? :)

7 Nov 2006 @ 20:17 by dkill : No Way!
Sprouts are yummy! I enjoy all of natures vegies (accept parsnips yuk!)

8 Nov 2006 @ 13:19 by vector8 : I love parsnips
Really yummy baked.

As if the Universe was taking the piss, my mother prepared brussel sprouts with cauliflower, cabbage and brocolli in a dish and I actually enjoyed them.

My favourite vegetable is...drumrolls please....chocolate. Well, it comes from cocao bean, and bean is a vegetable, isn't it? :)

8 Nov 2006 @ 14:05 by jmarc : who is the president of America
these days? Is it still George Bush? :)

Hmm let me check......

oh my!
Yes it is!
How about that!
lol.

8 Nov 2006 @ 14:34 by vector8 : George Bush...
I'm confused. Do you mean the old geezer that got America involved in the Gulf War or the old geezer that got America involved in another war? ;)

8 Nov 2006 @ 15:32 by jmarc : you mean
(the old geezer that got America involved in the Gulf War )saddam Hussein
or
(the old geezer that got America involved in another war?) ossam bin Laden?

No, I mean the guy who cut everyone's taxes, lol.

8 Nov 2006 @ 16:14 by vector8 : Aha...
...you mean Father Christmas aka Santa Claus! Why didn't you say so? lol
