During my bus journey I got chatting to this man and the bus driver. He told me he was a train driver and he was in a hurry to get to work. I was curious about his job so I asked him about how he drove the train. Was it automatic or manual? He went on to describe the mechanics of driving which left me with a glazed look. He also talked about the live electric tracks.
"Tell her how you once got electrocuted," the bus driver said.
"You did? How did that happen?"
"I fell asleep and fell out of the train," he said, "and I was electrocuted."
"He'd been drinking the night before," the bus driver winked at me. I could see he was obviously teasing his friend.
"That must have been painful," I said.
"You nearly died, didn't you?" the bus driver said.
"Yes, I passed out. I had to have stitches on my head."
"Show her your hand," the bus driver said.
He showed me one hand which had lots of scars.
"Blimey! And you lived to tell the tale?" I said. "That's amazing!"
"With all that electricity, he can charge his mobile phone for free," the bus driver said.
"Good one!" I chuckled.
"The guys at work call me the Depot Cat," the man said.
"That's funny!"
"Do you know why?" he said.
"Could it be because you have nine lives?" I laughed.
He nodded.
"I wonder how many lives you have left after that accident?"
Travelling by bus can be so much fun.
