Hill Station Blues: Letter from Zimbabwe
 Letter from Zimbabwe14 comments
14 Jul 2005 @ 15:51, by Nigella Wraye

While London gets to grips with the atrocities of last week against innocent travellers, and now the news of the attackers communities in traditional slumbering neighbourhoods, the following letter was received from Zimbabwe to describe the latest crackdowns on its media. Obviously there was no connection between the two, but there appears to be no organisation able to transmit news from Zimbabwe at the moment. Twenty years ago while resident in neighbouring Botswana, a plan I conceived to aid this stricken country was to put an arcaded yoga/ meditation/ fountain platform on the summit of one of the hills of giant boulders characteristic of the domain so that users could turn North/East facing this country, to offer aid in some tangible way. The idea included visitors removing their footwear to walk bare foot up the mountain path through the pristine wilderness vegetation and refresh and relax on the summit arena in meditative pose. Baboons, monkeys, eagles, vultures and such gradually approach any such visit inquisitively sometimes creating their own commotions to divert attention. Perhaps now I can invite anyone who cares to spare a few seconds thought for the Zimbabweans having their houses smashed, and those wondering if theirs is next, to visit this Hilltop yoga/meditation/fountain platform on the summit of Kgale (pronounced carly) for a little virtual yoga.

The letter from Zim...

I reckon that these are the last days of TKM and ZPF.
The darkest hour is always before dawn.

We are all terrified at what they are going to destroy next... I mean they are actually plowing down brick and mortar houses and one white family with twin boys of 10 had no chance of salvaging anything when 100 riot police came in with AK's and bulldozers and demolished their beautiful house - 5 bedrooms and pine ceilings - because it was "too close to the airport"..so we are feeling extremely insecure right now. You know - I am aware that this does not help you sleep at night, but if you do not know - how can you help?

Even if you put us in your own mental ring of light and send your guardian angels to be with us - that is a help - but I feel so cut off from you all knowing I cannot tell you what's going on here simply because you will feel uncomfortable. There is no ways we can leave so that is not an option. I just ask that you all pray for us in the way that you know how, and let me know that you are thinking of us and sending out positive vibes... that's all.

You can't just be in denial and pretend its not going on. To be frank with you, its genocide in the making and if you do not believe me, read the Genocide Report by Amnesty International which says we are IN level seven (level 8 is after its happened and everyone is in denial). If you don't want me to tell you these things then it means you have not dealt with your own fear, but it does not help me to think you are turning your back on our situation.

We need you to get the news OUT that we are all in a fearfully dangerous situation here. Too many people turn their backs and say - oh well, that's what happens in Africa. This government has GONE MAD and you need to publicize our plight or how can we be rescued?

You can't just say "oh you attract your own reality". The petrol queues are a reality, the pall of smoke all around our city is a reality, the thousands of homeless people sleeping outside in 0 Celsius with no food water, shelter and bedding are a reality.

Today a family approached me, brother of the gardener's wife with two small children. Their home was trashed and they will have to sleep outside. We already
support 8 people and a child on this property and electricity is going up next month by 250% as is water. How can I take another family of 4 - and yet how can I turn them away to sleep out in the open?

I am not asking you for money, or a ticket out of here - I am asking you to FACE the fact that we are in deep and terrible danger and I want you to pass on our news and pictures and don't just press the delete button for God's sake. Help in the way that you know how. Face the reality of what is going on here and SEND OUT THE WORD. The more people that know about it, the more chance we have of United Nations coming to our aid.

Please stop ignoring and denying what's happening. Would you like to be protected from the truth and then if we are eliminated how would you feel? Surely you would say "if only we knew how bad it really was we could have helped in some way". I know we chose to stay here and so we "deserve" what's coming to us. For now we ourselves, have food, shelter, a little fuel and a bit of money for the next meal - but what is going to happen next? Will they start on our houses? All property is going to belong to the State now. I want to send out my Title Deeds to one of you because if they get a hold of those I can't fight for my rights.

We no longer have SW radio which told us everything that was happening because the government jammed it out of existence - we don't have any reporters, and no one is allowed to photograph. If we had reporters here they would have an absolute field day. Even the pro government Herald has written that people are shocked, stunned, bewildered and blown mindless by the wanton destruction of everyone's homes which are supposed to be "illegal but which a huge percentage of them actually do have licenses for. Please my children - have some compassion and HELP by sending out the articles and personal reports so that something can be DONE.

for bringing this to the attention of NCN. I hope you have your settings set so your newslog is open to the public so more people can read the letter. Africian politics is heart wrenching to watch and you have helped to bring a human understanding to the too brief news we hear about many countries suffering in Africa.

14 Jul 2005 @ 17:32 by jstarrs : Heart-breaking...
..your first post is heart breaking.
There's no left, no right, there can only be equinamity between peoples.
I'll try and get this out, in my way...

Equals IMF insanity. Write me, if you can at mailto:stormulf@gmail.com
I would suggest arming yourselves and fighting the tyrants. If you have to die then do it bravely! Of course I'll "hold you in the light," but...

Interesting that 'Lady Bush' doesn't seem to mind the 'Bush-whacking' going on in Zimbabwe. The U.N.? Surely you jest? "If you see blue helmets, run!"

Fight back! Kill or be killed. If I could I'd come and join you in the fight but I'll do what I can do. Inform us if, and when, you can...

There are many newslogs here, not a lot of unity, though, and probably less care but...

There's Jeff in France and Ming in France and lots of us here in Ameri-Ka. Fight back!

Yes, learn how to take their guns away from them! Establish a provisional Army of wastrells and waifs. Suicide bomb the shit out of the bastards but most of all...fight them!

That I cannot do for you. We know that the Private British Corporation, called the ``UNITED STATES,'' in the territory known as the "District of Columbia," is probably giving lots of 'FRN's (debt based promises to pay based on thin air) to the bastards in charge of the genocide. And we know just ``W.H.O.`` that is, don't we?

They are all in it together. That means they, UN, IMF, Downing Street, Blair, World Bank, etc., are really 'behind it!' Read ``the Genocide Treaty'' and see who signed it (eye opener.) They (International ``Comm-unity'') are not 'against genocide they are all for it! You see, genocide is very profitable. Ask Saint Mandela. Heh!

Oh none of that is encouraging, to say the least, and what the hell else can I say? I've talked to people, here, till I'm blue in the face. Words mean so little and bullets/ballots mean so much. Electronic bullets? Give us a few...

What about your 'Government?' Are you a 'citi-zen' there or just what is your status? Don't mean to be nosey but you come on like gangbusters about something that just is not 'mediumized' so most do not know about your plight, though it has been going on for many years, nor, if they did, would they care.

I love your ideas and do so hope that you will live long enough to implement them but if worse comes to worse, and it probably will, fight! You need 'guns' not 'International support,' which, like the humanitarian 'maize,' only ends up in Mugabe's friggin belly...

A few 'HEAPS' "Holocaust Education and Avoidance Pods" would do wonders. Mugabe (Hero to many South Africans, still!) gets guns from the Chinoise (Oh they are all 'SOA' in it together and that goes for SA as well!).

Take the guns away from him and put bullets between his eyes and everyone that supports him. Set your sites on 'Sovereignty' and go beyond the clashing rocks---Survive! Or die by starvation or...

15 Jul 2005 @ 10:33 by ashanti : Hello
Thanks for posting. I have been mentioning Zimbabwe occasionally, when I was more active in NCN (only pop in occasionally nowadays). I can assure you, without going into detail, that there are those of us who are watching and working on healing the situation. More people are aware than you realise. And it WILL be healed. That is an absolute certainty. The conspiracy of silence and lies surrounding the atrocities is all part of a plan, and it is being addressed.

Another thing (one of many, but this one is surprisingly simple, and surprisingly effective) that can also help:

Read this extract from Diana Coopers' Web of Light:

"This is a brief extract from The Web of Light

‘What's the Great Zimbabwe?' interrupted Tony.

‘Ah! Good question!' responded Zoranda. ‘It's known as the sacred site of the lion and used to be an important trading place and centre for smelting gold. Historians say it was built between 900 and 1500 AD.'

‘But?' breathed Helen and the big man smiled at her.

‘But it is a site of great legend and mystery, a sacred place of lion spirits. Indeed totem lions have been found here. It was originally built by a lost civilisation who created the most stable empire on the continent on the seam of physical gold, which runs through Africa.'

‘The gold of enlightenment that holds the Earth together,' murmured Helen.

Zoranda nodded and continued. ‘The gold line then goes straight through the Timbavati, where the White Lions are seen and down to Durban.'

They all looked at the map and Edward pointed out that the Sphinx, the source of the Nile, the Great Zimbabwe and the Timbavati were all on the same longitudinal line, 31 degrees 14' east.

Tony drew in breath and scrutinised the map more carefully, while Zoranda mindfully picked five crystals from a bowl. He held the stones in his big hands and blessed them. Then he placed a black obsidian at the top of the map on the Giza plateau. Below it he put a yellow citrine on the source of the Nile, further down a red garnet on the Great Zimbabwe, a green malachite on the Timbavati and finally a blue lapis over Durban.

He stepped back and they all looked at the map with its line of gold through Africa and strategically placed crystals. ‘The greatest thing you and other people can do now to bring in the Christ consciousness and heal Africa is to visualise the gold".

Find out about the golden strand that runs through Africa, and the tear through the web of light at this link.

It is no accident, esoterically, that Zimbabwe is swamped in darkness, and that the White Lions are being culled.

Diana Cooper may come across as being a bit fluffy - tailored to suit a Western mind, I think - but she is absolutely spot on, and her work correlates with all the ancient shamanic wisdom. She is one of the greatest friends Africa has ever had.

Thanks for caring about Zimbabwe - and Africa. I have been bleating on in the past about how vital it is to heal Africa - because, as Diana Cooper exposes - if we don't heal Africa, where the central tear in the web is, the rest of the world will never heal either. Africa is the Nexus that needs to be healed. I'm glad people are listening to you. Many thanks, and keep it up!

15 Jul 2005 @ 13:40 by nraye : Thankyou, all you guys
Martha, Jeff, Vaxen and Ashanti - for taking up this letter. I received it in London from a school friend, who received from her friend. The senders name I edited for safety sake, but fairly sure they are white 2/3rd generation Zimbns'; all who have been forcibly removed are. Non-residents/citizens would have left long ago. However, I know nothing more than here. Also, those of us with affiliations have memories of our own face to face encounters and because of the gentle simple faithfulness of the people there are harder to forget despite many years, hence my own offering to practice a retreat of peace with the help of aged peace icons. Should this be in the event section? I hope it is open to public because friends have been told to visit too. My own message in a bottle to the sender, if he sees this somehow, I was on 4th Street, SBY, and I am aware of real assistance which is being made for the country, so it is happening. Thanks again.

22 Jul 2005 @ 07:26 by redstar : Great Posting
One of the things that stuck me about the siuation in Zim' when I was there during New Year 2005 was the simple tenacity and acceptance of the people. Granted, the situation has deteriorated further since then, and a great many people are in huge need and under great oppression, but the people of Zimbabwe will endure through their dark night & come out to a brighter Day. This is something that adds to thier strength and an experience that will soon be felt in the wider world. The collapse of the systems in Zim' are a wakeup Call to the people - GET LOCAL - GET SUSTAINABLE - BE INDEPENDANT - GROW YOUR OWN FOOD these are lessons to be learnt for all of us - I hope we have time to learn them.

22 Jul 2005 @ 07:32 by redstar : Also
I was just on the phone to a Business contact in Zimbabwe and although, they cannot say much on the phone, what I could gather from the undertone of the conversation is that Life is going on.

We are still recieving goods made in Zimbabwe here in Malawi, so their economy is still functioning albeit in a greatly reduced fashion.

My contacts exact words "Well, look it's tough, but we're still doin business and life goes on"

MY reply "Thats the main thing, mate, Life has to go on. Look after yourself and keep it going and I'll get back to you with that order by next week"

22 Jul 2005 @ 12:02 by nraye : Clear concise words, but it won't remove
the agony thousands of people have witnessed. Perhaps the ruling persona has immoderate capacity for scraping the sand grains towards itself. Someone needs to be voted in who can spread, smoothly, the sand grains outwards in 360 deg circle, then the rain can fall. But thanks Redstar for update, Malawi not too hot either judging from visit last year. Was impressed by the stick and thatch amphitheatre built by the French embassy adjacent to their Cultural Centre beckoning to many types of participants and enjoyment, truly uplifting!

23 Jul 2005 @ 09:34 by redstar : Cultural centre
Yeah, they are doin some good work at the Cultural Centre and we've seen a few great concerts there in the recent past. We love that they really promote African Art & Cultures there as well as the French culture.

27 Jul 2005 @ 16:52 by nraye : Ashanti, not sure if the D cooper
writings are representative and helpful. They seem like an African Dan Brown and Da Vinci Code, giving connectivity to all manner of historical incidents with part truth, and exciting many first time readers. Not sure how it goes towards holding the vision - with comments about a tear - the rift valley is a huge line of energy. But Africa has a fragile ecosystem probably as fragile as the lives of its majority peoples challenged with HIV. Even the so called wild fierce animals give a false picture to the romanticists - the capacity for disease at the slightest imbalance of this or that. In the light of all this and more, its mineral wealth is immaterial as it brings about mostly the wrong things. I see excitement as the wrong emotion to invoke in gaining attention, many of the african genres are bartered for their own sakes and not for intrinsic value. Yes, there are endless comments from me within this strata of thought. And yes, I could volunteer to write a good myth for Africa if necessary, like Dido and Aeneas that Augustus Ceasar commissioned as first class propaganda for the establishment of the might of the Roman empire, instigating at the stroke of a pen, the supremacy of Rome as masculine inheritors to the legacy of Troy, still read 2,000 years on.

13 Aug 2005 @ 02:50 by astrid : Emotional/Social/SPIRITUAL
Wounds cannot heal with the same consciousness= energy, thinking, acting, behaving etc. that caused the wounds in the first place!!! Only as a LAST RESORT of SELF DEFENCE should the BigBoys' methods be used!...and then whith a vengence of the Vietnamese People when they were fighting for their lives!
I cannot emphasize the importance of putting /IMAGINING 1) a wall of light between the evil-doers and their victims,
2) imagining ALL people, both agrressors as well as the vicims ( including Land.Nature/Environment/Animals EACH in their OWN BUBBLE of White (Magic) Light
to protect and to feed the Souls of each with as much FRESH Life Energy as ANY Soul could ever need!....
THIS the evildoers HAVE to -eventually-start to deal with: themselves and their feeling stirred up by the FRESH COSMIC ENERGY -amplified beyond belief by our conscious focus of it! THIS IS -almost- SIMPLE HIGHSCHOOL PHYSICS!!!... though very cosmic!
The more one is out of synch with this energy, the more INTERNAL UPSET within the individual will it provoke!... Such a person HAS to eventually deal with it -or perish!!!
3) DO your OWN Thing: STOP relying on the "government" -or similar to come with the "Bottle"!.... the People ARE NOT Babies!!!... -at tlewast the grown ups are not!... They MUST stop looking up to the gov or others who say come with AID / Relief MAterial. They do it to trap you!
4) Eat ALL fruits & veggies uncooked!
5) find ways to make and use simple Solar cookers : use saolar power instead of WOOD!
6) ENVISION RAIN in GENTLE BUT PERSISTANTLY RECURRING MANNER >> TO SUSTAIN ALL Life Do NOT give up on that vision!
7) BLESS ALL, including the agressors!!!.... blessing will INCREASE THE DIVINE IN ALL that is being 'blessed'... With that; once again a confrontation within the evildoers is forced into action!
8) BARTER!!! Make your own LOCAL money as much as possible!!!
9) Contact as many people abroad as possible. Let the World know what the idiots are doing there!
10) DO ANYTHING YOU CAN THINK OF THAT IS SUSTAINABLE Living within Zim's frameworks of Climate/Environmant /Nature/Society!
And we the rest here and there on the planet, will keep you in Light and Love and focus ONLY GOOD for you all, who are siding with LIFE!
11) last, but NOT least: HOLD your UNFAILING FOCUS on the VSION of GOOD you want!!! Never ever try to imagine the fights etc!!! WHAT WE GIVE OUR UN-DIVIDED FOCUS is WHAT WE GET/MAKE MORE of -as in MULTIPLY!!! Tha is a Cosmic Law! that is why it is so imoprtant to know when to stop fosus on the shit and REPLACE IT IN OUR MINDS -first- with WHAT WE DO WANT and then HANG ON TO THAT VISION, until it manifests, which it HAS TO! Cosmic Laws Cannot be altered by ANYONE EVER!!!

8 Sep 2005 @ 10:32 by nraye : The country folk
of Zimbabwe are very different to the current ruling party, the separation has existed since before the country welcomed Communism from USSR and China. As it was in Mozambique too. On my visit they showed only Russian made movies in the cinemas, naming one, a Spartacus movie. An episode not generally known. Many of the shanty town people setting up roadside businesses, were moved off farm lands by landgrabbers with no concern for thousands of native families whose livihood depended on abundance provided by knowledgeable farmers; YES being subsistence people they HAD their own fields etc. Now moving back into the countryside it is not to their former villages, no doubt in destruction of the historical memory of any previous existence ((same lifetime)). At this level there are no muses in Africa. Of the much teaching work since 1945 little survives, everything turns to anthills, and people do eat the ants. The ants eat the houses, wood, paper everything. There is no indigenous system of land tenure in Africa - imported legal systems overthrown. RomanDutch law (precursor to Code Napoleon) has applied historically to the sub continent. The main premise of which being inherited by the Roman way of respecting the traditions of indigenous peoples (Pilot in Jerusalem) in their own disputes.

In researching the ancient historical developments of land tenure developed in the peoples transitions from pastoral, to agrarian, to urban dominant settlements the tremendous level of anguish it produced in strong family oriented groups caused me to again realise that protracted unedurable and incomphrensible turmoil can only release itself without more bloodshed through poetry, or anything that involves a drawing inwards of the self to absolutely any kind of expression, even silent while maintaining conscious awareness. It is easy to see the contributions made to the greatest of theatre works in the world, as a peaceful transference of utter complete turmoil. This underscores the validity such a virtual yoga sight more than ever.

19 Sep 2005 @ 14:52 by nraye : A land of peace
can be found close by in the world of Mahendra.

2 Apr 2008 @ 14:51 by nraye : Zimbabwe holds breath
while the long drawn out result-calling to the elections takes place, the highest at the moment for the opposition is 50.03%. Must be more than this surely, but hey its OK for the time being! In the fast moving world of the news networks, the delay in calling the results is a difficult one to suddenly adapt to. The last 28 years of Mugabe have been long and terrible and perhaps there needs to be a bit of time for the imminent change to sink in.

If peaceful, it will be a sort of miracle, and a valediction for all efforts put towards this considerably implausible outcome; a hope beyond many hopes for most people. I remember the Gardener, Jospeh, elderly for a Zimbabwean, whom I helped get out of jail in S Africa (for having an illegal stamp of entry in his passport) conditional upon his returning to his country. His village existing no more, and neither his people. I had to go and see him with the money accumulated for his job and give this to him with a very heavy heart and look into his eyes while trying to get the words out. It was as if handing out a death sentence. All the while I kept in mind the torturing he was receiving in prison, and hoped this would buy him some time and new luck.

A few months later, we had a phone call from someone in the countryside wanting a reference for Joseph. He had not gone back but taken to the bush and hills and searched for a job in the outback somewhere. Secretly glad he had disobeyed his release details, everyone one of us in the office would never ever admit to the other let alone to anyone else that we knew anything of his whereabouts. I am absolutely sure there were no spies in that office amongst the workforce, black and white included. To be so sure of something akin to this is quite special in its own right.

Watch this space, is all it can be for the moment. A real turn around of events that effects an awful lot of people around the world, who so far have remained largely silent in the face of fierce deadly reprisals.
