Thinking Machine 4 is "an artificial intelligence program, ready to play chess with the viewer. If the viewer makes a move, the computer's thought process is sketched on screen as it plays. A map is created from the traces of literally thousands of possible futures as the program tries to decide its best move. Besides all that, it's just simply groovy, artistically speaking. The lines of play look very much like some abstract modern paintings and the waves of influence can look, at times, like a Zen garden.
