Chapter 1: Ford Theater and me.
In the late summer of 1999 I was fortunate to have an opportunity to go to Washington D.C. I had gone to be at the poetry convention. That was just an excuse to see the Smithsonian. I would like to recount an odd experience I had there in our grand Capitol. More >

Yesterday, I attended the biggest bash in South Africa ever - the inauguration of Thabo Mbeki as President for the next 5 years, celebration of Freedom Day (27/4/04) as well as 10 years of Democracy celebrations, all held at the Union Buildings in Pretoria. The whole day cost R90 million. 40 heads of state, other countries represented by their embassy staff in Pretoria, and thousands of people attended. The ceremony was opened at 9.00 am by blessings from priests of the following religions - Hindu, African Traditional, Christian (an ordained female priest), Jewish and Muslim. What struck me - only in South Africa can Muslim and Jew sit together, laugh together and dine together, quite happily. The overall message was one of Unity in Diversity. There was a very strong emphasis on the importance of honouring and valuing women and the feminine. There was a chiding of the wrong path the West (USA & UK) have taken, and a commitment to give even more humanitarian aid to the Iraqi and Afghani victims of what the President referred to as: "The USA's weapons of mass destruction." The music and dance, poetry and prose was very impressive. The crowds were totally amped by the time it all finished at about 8.00 pm. More >

Let’s Figure Out
Why Americans are BETTER
Than Anyone Else
American media, the very mouthpiece of God for the average television viewer, is something most people believe in without question. Basically, Americans believe that if something appears on TV then it MUST be true, ESPECIALLY if the person speaking is an “authority” or “expert” on what is going on in the world. If television news is, as they say, “the gospel” then commercials must be likened to the hymns of praise, sung after the sermon is over. Most people obviously think that if you want to know TRUTH about anything under the sun, then all you have to do is turn on your television set, and “surf” channels until you find it. Thus we now have the term “reality TV” which shows the thoughts and emotions of “real people” going about their “real lives”.
People live their entire existence by virtue of what they see on TV. How they dress, what they say, what they buy, their values, what they teach their kids to believe and their opinions on almost any subject, are determined largely, if not entirely, by what is said on The Tube. This article is dedicated particularly to the majority of Americans, (75% supposedly think the war in Iraq is just) whose lives are guided by the content of cable channels and studio broadcasts.
According to American television, the first thing you have to understand about “our people” is that they are BETTER than anyone else in the world. If you can “grok” this basic premise, then you can understand our foreign policies. Those new to this country may not know this, having not yet been graced by our television programming. But they say it is true, just ask most Americans.
So let’s try to clearly understand this underlying message of American television. Let’s start by asking, “WHY are Americans so superior?” If we could just clearly and fully understand WHY Americans are better, wouldn’t that help the rest of the world live up to our high standards? That’s logical isn’t it? I mean, being the good, moral, humanitarian people that we are, shouldn’t we try to do all we can to explain to the world how they can be just like us, (U.S.)?
An analysis of our media message
Let’s start by analyzing the above question in the context of recent events. How about the war with Iraq! Now here’s a perfect example of American superiority at work. Just as in Afghanistan, our “troops” are back at it again in Iraq, making good where there was once evil, and creating right out of what was once wrong, in yet another backward country. We’re in Iraq we’re told, because Saddam Hussein is a “bad guy”, a dictator, a rapist, a no-good mass murderer, without a shred of decency or morals. As Americans on the other hand, we are the modern day Crusaders of Righteousness, whose moral cause is fought for the sake of all decent, peace loving and democratic people everywhere. President Bush says we’re there to establish Democracy, so that Iraqis can enjoy real freedom, peace and prosperity. We’re there to make a “regime change” so that this really, really bad guy can be replaced with someone who more closely reflects our superior moral compass of right and wrong.
Taken at face value, one must further conclude from what we see on television that;
Americans are SO SUPERIOR over all other peoples and nations in the world, in fact, that they have the moral right, nay, the moral DUTY, to determine how the world should function on a daily basis. The “other” people of the world just don’t have the mental or spiritual capacity to do this for themselves. This is why they need our guidance. The United Nations obviously didn’t and doesn’t understand this. That “irrelevant debating society” had the audacity to want to further discuss the killing of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, and to further the inspections. This appropriately angered our Divine Leader George Bush, when all the while it was so clear to the American government that those Iraqis should die for the sake of democracy. How dare the people and governments of other nations question our judgment! Indeed, how dare France oppose our interests like that…don’t they know we’re so much BETTER than they are, that it would be an honor for any Frenchman to simply be in an American‘s presence without bowing? What silly fools these, “cheese eating, surrender monkeys” are, and how arrogant! They should know by now that we are the superior race, and although questions and occasional debate are permitted, what is NOT ALLOWED is actual opposition to our national policies or interests. For this France is clearly NOT with God, and will suffer our wrath at some time in the future. But then we can’t expect the backward, unenlightened nations of the world to have the clear perception of God’s Will like we do, now can we? Even Britain, which is composed of the second best people in the world, (second best because they’re so similar to us) is second rate, as demonstrated by the opposition to our decrees for war in their government. Then you have the third best people in the world, the Australians, (because they resemble us somewhat) who have also sent troops, (though a pitiful band they are, compared to our boys and their guns, Ay?) and are therefore somewhat deserving of our praise, as a minor province of the American World Empire. As they say, it’s hard to get good help these days, and if you want it done right, (straightening the world out) then you have to do it yourself!
Ok, so how are we doing so far….is this a pretty accurate representation of what our Mouthpiece of God American media is telling Americans? Isn’t this what most Americans who support “the war against terror” believe? Great, then lets get it even more clear, so that the backwards people of all other nations can finally get their act together, by learning what it is to be American. Perhaps then they can emulate us, much like monkeys at a zoo can ape Human behavior, and occasionally GET IT approximately RIGHT.
Back to Iraq…we’re there to eliminate “weapons of mass destruction” or at least they’re potential use by that really, really bad guy Saddam, years down the road. The longer we would have waited to invade and occupy their country, the more danger there would have been posed by Evil Saddam and His Weapons, to the Civilized Nations of the World. The same is of course true of North Korea, Syria, Iran and a long list of others, and they will ALL be dealt with in good time. What is a good Christian nation to do after all, but overthrow such heathen trash as this, before they cause some real problems in the world? [I mean, we’ve made a lot of improvements in the Gospel since Jesus, so why take His word for anything?] Ok, the weapons inspectors didn’t find any weapons of mass destruction, (WMD’s) but that doesn’t mean that untrustworthy devil over there wasn’t hiding any. In fact, the fact that we didn’t find any WMD’s only proves that they are there, just as our Divinely inspired Leader George Bush clearly stated. If George said so, then it MUST be true, because he’s never wrong. Not only are Americans rarely wrong, but that American Presidents CAN NEVER be in error. American Presidents are always honest, truth loving, God fearing, perfect Beings of such wisdom, that it would be folly for any mere mortal, (even another American) to ever question anything they say or do. So if George Bush says there’s WMD’s in Iraq, then by God there are WMD’s in Iraq, even if we never do find any.
Because Americans are so nearly perfect in every way, and because they are so much more morally, politically and socially evolved than regular human beings, it is up to us to make the laws for the entire planet. In other words, because we’re FAR BETTER than anyone else, it is our right to decree whatever Divinely inspired law we may wish for the peoples of the world on any given day. Such laws don’t apply to us of course, because we’re the superior race. So when it comes to international agreements such as the Kyoto Protocol or the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, or any other mere worldly agreement made by inferior beings, (non-Americans), these can be ignored by us at any time we see fit. The same is of course true of WMD’s. We’ve decreed that Iraq can’t have any of these, because they’re morally, socially and politically inferior to America. Israel on the other hand, is allowed to have as many of these weapons as they want, and so are those second best Brits, and third best Aussies. But backwards, heathen-god worshipping countries like Iraq, Iran, North Korea or Syria CAN’T have such weapons because they just don’t measure up to our superior moral standards. So it’s not that America is actually against weapons of mass destruction themselves, since we have more of them than all of the other countries in the world combined. It’s just that CERTAIN PEOPLE can’t have them, and we’ll let you know day by day who those people are. [George Bushs’ Oracle, John Ashcroft the All Seeing and Infallible, will let us know who the terrorists are] We have thousands of nuclear warheads and every type of chemical and biological weapon known to man, (and we aren’t afraid to use them either, says Don Rumsfeld, no sir--eee). Some call this hypocrisy, but they just don’t understand how morally perfect and above even our own laws, we really are. Only the most morally, socially and politically evolved people should possess and use such weapons. [See the chart below, which explains how much more American lives are worth than those of inferior cultures] Unlike the uncivilized countries of the rest of the world, America doesn’t murder when is kills …it LIBERATES.
Furthermore, only the most morally, socially and politically evolved people of the world, (Americans and those they designate) have the authority to USE WMD’s on other people in the world, in whatever way or time they so choose. This is what is now known as “Pre-emption” or “making a pre-emptive strike” against those who are “less” than us. If it is our choice to kill hundreds of thousands or even millions of inferior people, at any time and in any place in the world we so choose, then that is our God-given right as freedom-loving Americans to do exactly that. A case in point is the uranium depleted munitions we’re using now against Iraq, and which we used previously in the last Gulf War. [And let us bow our heads in reverence when we speak of past American Wars, to honor the Holy Sacrifice our men and women in uniform made for the sake of our nobility and Democracy worldwide] The radiation from these munitions lasts many generations, and effectively destroys the environment of those who have been bombed by us. But that doesn’t matter since only American lives count. Only Americans really feel pain. The rest of humanity, like the dumb animals that they are, don’t count and don’t feel pain like we do. Besides, if we let too many of them live, they and their children would be using up more of the world’s resources and leaving less for us to use. That simply wont do. Don’t these simpletons know that the world’s resources are there only for Americans, the superior race? I mean my God, what ignorance and presumption comes from these little beings!
The Relative Worth of Lives
American lives are worth far more in the eyes of God than are anyone else‘s, as the following comparison demonstrates;
1 American life is worth at least;
2 heads of state
3 Brits
8 Australians
9 Japanese
10 Spaniards
12 Canadians
15 Turks
25 Domestic anti-war protestors
35 Mexicans
100 Nicaraguans
450 Chinese
1000 Muslims
1400 Syrians
3000 Foreign anti-war protestors
8500 Iranians
800,000 Iraqis
2 Million North Koreans
Note; These relative values are subject to change at a moment’s notice, depending upon how foreign heads of state succeed or fail in their mission to serve us.
More conclusions drawn from the American media;
When we speak of spreading democracy for other lands, we don’t really mean that we’re making those countries politically equal to us. How could they ever be equal to us after all?.. (silly question) When the American media speaks of democracy, they are referring to the freedoms American enjoy to live as they see fit. For us then, democracy means that we have the freedom to bomb whoever we wish, whenever we wish. It means that we can indulge our consumer lifestyle at the expense of the entire world, and rightfully punish anyone who does not IMMEDIATELY give us whatever we may want. Democracy for us means that we can occupy foreign lands and take their resources, if that happens to suit our “national interests”. For other countries and people of the world, “democracy” also means freedom, but not in quite the same way. For them it means having the freedom to happily accept whoever we choose to lead their government and make their policies. It means they have the freedom to buy American name brand products, (who could ask for more?). Those countries whose peoples are foolishly sitting on top of resources like oil that we want for ourselves, have the freedom to either step aside or be killed. They also have the freedom to keep their mouths shut as we bury their dead in mass graves in the desert. They have the freedom to live with the lingering radiation and environmental destruction of our bombs raining down by the hundreds every day, and smile as the “liberators” drive by. That’s right. Just like in Afghanistan, we’re their liberators, rescuing them from the tyranny of cruel leaders with the wholesome explosives of American artillery, and the mind expanding propaganda of American leaflets and radio broadcasts, explaining that all the hundreds of thousands of preventable children’s deaths over the last decade of UN/US sanctions, has just been the fault of Saddam after all. See how good and righteous we are? As if it weren’t enough trouble already, to liberate these animals from their own mis-used oil, we’re going to be good guys and give them humanitarian aid, (canned corned beef and band-aids) too! God Bless America! Proud to be an American! Support our Troops! Seig Hiel!
So have we figured it out yet, as to what it is that makes America so Great?
Hint; Make billions through fraudulent corporations like Enron by any means necessary, so as to bribe foreign officials. Build the world’s biggest army, and employ propaganda as a world-class art form. Re-define truth as what you say, and not what you do. Then you’ll begin to understand.
