The author and first wife, The Bronx, autumn 1963

In June of 1963, I was just out of university, didn't have any money left to speak of, hadn't ever held a "real" job in the world, had no set prospects for one, and was getting married. Five years later, that wife and her mother concluded I wasn't really ready to be a married person. A judge in Bridgeport agreed, so they took our 2 kids and went away. But that summer in '63, I felt ready and eager nevertheless. I remember red roses everywhere in full bloom and beautiful.

A job came through, in The Bronx. The principal of the school hired me to teach English to the upper grades at secondary level. In July he called to ask if I could teach some social studies. He knew I had taken courses in a number of fields in college. Frankly I had chosen English finally, because that thesis was the easiest to do. So I said OK. In August, a couple weeks before we were to have moved in our first apartment, the man called again and said the English teacher had decided to stay. Could I teach all social studies? Just married, my first job, I was nervous. I said I'd do it, but I needed the department chairman to get me materials immediately so I could prepare. He said, "You are the department chairman."

Thus did I stride into the wonderful world of love, marriage, and work---at least work in the weedy field of education. But there was much more to learn. In 1963, the New York World's Fair was getting started over at Flushing Meadows in The Queens. Elvis made a movie about it. Part of the place would end up the ball park for a new major league team in New York. Our school decided to take a field trip over to see it. We took the subway, a rather long ride. The principal had decided to come along. When we changed trains in Manhattan, he spotted a beggar at the stop and nonchalantly remarked, "There's one of my former students." I think I said something about government programs to enable the poor to enter the work force. The boss replied, "Oh, so you're a Kennedy pinko."

I remember just where we were when he said that to me, as one does when one's illusions are shattered. I had grown up during the McCarthy era and knew how serious a charge along those lines could be. This guy was kidding just a little bit, but I never had been called anything like that by someone in authority. I didn't tell him this, but the fact was I didn't even support John Kennedy particularly. I had seen him once, in 1960 during his campaign for the presidency, but the voting age wouldn't be lowered for another 10 years...so I couldn't vote and didn't feel particularly committed one way or the other. A professor drove me to wherever it was in Maine that he appeared, and I know we waited forever for him so show up. But there was no doubt about it: the man absolutely radiated charisma.

I had participated in picketing his White House in March of '62. We were protesting his policy of continuing above-ground nuclear bomb testing---or at least I think that's what it was. We were up to our ankles in slush in Washington, and most of us wore beatnik tennis shoes with holes in them back then. Pete Seeger led the march from the Washington Monument to the White House. There we walked up and down, back and forth, had to keep moving. We were freezing as the sleet continued to fall. My fiancee had come along, and this was her first real dip into the world of radical politics. We knew Kennedy was inside, and ultimately a van came down the driveway and a guy in a suit got out. He said the President sent his greetings and wished us well. And here were cups of hot chocolate for everyone. That's how JFK dealt with protest.  More >

 Now, About Bill Ayers...38 comments

Self-reverence, self-knowledge, self-control---these three alone lead to sovereign power.

Growing older, I love only quietness:
who needs be concerned with the things of this world?
Looking back, what better plan than this:
returning to the grove.

Some of us have been on a particularly pink Cloud Nine since Barack Hussein Obama was elected the next President of the United States. But this is 5 days later and here are the Sunday papers. If we haven't been jolted out of our reverie yet by the reactions of people not sharing it, it should happen today.

I was not a total convert to Senator Obama, even after being in the midst of one of his ecstatic rallies, but I ended up on the team knocking door-to-door on Election Day. While wearing an Obama button, I nevertheless saw myself as enabling both friend and foe to get to the polls if they wanted to. While cautious and frankly very worried about the shotgun fringe around here, who loudly refused to vote for any of those liars anywhere, I wasn't prepared for the aftermath among Republicans, Libertarians, Evangelicals and those even farther to the right.

I don't think I've seen, after any of the elections in my lifetime, the opposition explode in such disarray. I snuck a listen to rightwing AM radio Wednesday night, and heard Sean Hannity blasting the Republican Party as a bunch of phonies, too scared to stand up for any of the real conservative values. Evangelicals at work, particularly those with single-issue concerns about abortion, haven't spoken to me since Tuesday. I wrote a piece honoring folk singer/songwriter Holly Near, posted it on the Internet (I was trying to change the subject) and the comment thread blew up into flames and personal invective about Obama. As I look around at other blogs and comment pages to analysis, I see I wasn't alone in having this happen.

Yesterday the UK Guardian published an article with the subtitle "The Right Tears Itself Apart In Pinning Blame For McCain's Defeat." It begins,

"As the implosion of the defeated Republican campaign continued yesterday, the landscape of American conservatism was dotted with signs that these were very strange times indeed.

"Rush Limbaugh, behemoth of rightwing radio, took to the airwaves to declare war on two enemies: Barack Obama and the Republican party. Bloggers at FreeRepublic.com, an internet hub for conservatives, announced a boycott of Fox News and John McCain's aides fell over one another to leak embarrassing details about the campaign to the press.

"Liberals, indulging in what the writer Andrew Sullivan termed 'Palinfreude', were presented with a smorgasbord, ranging from the tale of how McCain's pro-Palin foreign policy adviser had his Blackberry confiscated in the closing days of the race, to how the party had paid for Todd Palin's silk boxer shorts."
[link]

This morning The New York Times is carrying opinion columns not only from the usual Sunday commentators Frank Rich and Maureen Dowd, but from their other writers too, like Thomas Friedman and Nicholas Kristof---and even more, including Al Gore. And there are the blogs in there and other columns too, all about the election...and what's next. Take your choice~~~ [link]

What I decided to do was open space for the most extreme rants anybody's still got bottled up. Let's just get it all out and hope that after a few days of venting, we can return to the business of our everyday with normal composure and focus. The Republicans pinned a lot of their attack on a supposed underground relationship and influence with Chicago resident, professor, and activist Bill Ayers. As far as I know, Mr. Ayers said nothing in public about all this during the campaign. Now he does. What do you think?  More >

 Pangea Day and Unified Science

Before joining the conversation, please read and accept this Invitation to a Conversation.

What's the connection between Pangea Day and Unified Science?

Firstly, a bit about Pangea Day:

Pangea Day taps the power of film to strengthen tolerance and compassion while uniting millions of people to build a better future.

In a world where people are often divided by borders, difference, and conflict, it's easy to lose sight of what we all have in common. Pangea Day seeks to overcome that — to help people see themselves in others — through the power of film.

On May 10, 2008 — Pangea Day — sites in Cairo, Kigali, London, Los Angeles, Mumbai, and Rio de Janeiro will be linked live to produce a program of powerful films, visionary speakers, and uplifting music.

The program will be broadcast live to the world through the Internet, television, digital cinemas, and mobile phones.

Of course, movies alone can't change the world. But the people who watch them can. So following May 10, 2008, Pangea Day organizers will facilitate community-building activities around the world by connecting inspired viewers with numerous organizations that are already doing groundbreaking work.

The Power of Understanding

Both believe in the power of understanding. Beings are inherently “good natured” and exhibit cruelty only when they are confused and traumatised. The better one's understanding of a situation the more appropriate and effective one's participation will be. It is through communication that we develop mutual understanding.

If we are to have peace we first need a common understanding of our shared humanity, but this is just a start. First we must expand our concept of 'us' to include all of humanity, but the universe does not end there and unless we have a broader sense of 'us' we will continue to encounter systemic conflict, such as between humanity and the rest of the ecosystem.

A man met a lad weeping. "What do you weep for?" he asked.
"I am weeping for my sins," said the lad.
"You must have little to do," said the man.
The next day they met again. Once more the lad was weeping. "Why do you weep now?" asked the man.
"I am weeping because I have nothing to eat," said the lad.
"I thought it would come to that," said the man.

I've been trying to think how I got interested in civil rights. I know it was all the way back in early childhood, even though there was no "movement" to speak of then nor was my normal white family particularly involved in politics or social problems. What I think did it was a Walt Disney movie from 1946, which would have put me in 1st grade. Anything Walt made was OK, even though Mom worried about the scary parts in every one. To this day my worst fears can be traced to Snow White running and lost in the forest, or the disappearance of Bambi's mother, or especially the transformation of Lampwick into a mule in Pinocchio---all done with animated shadows...and sound. Neverthless, as a family we saw everything that came out, and so it was with a film called Song Of The South.

By '46, Disney was experimenting with live action and much less animation interspersed. Song Of The South is about a little boy, played by Bobby Driscoll, who lives on a big plantation in the South, although I don't remember that it was exactly slavery times. At any rate, he wanders one day into the area where his father's black workers live and meets a man known as Uncle Remus, played by James Baskett. The whole situation is a setup for Remus to tell the kid 3 of the stories about Brer Rabbit, collected in the writings of Joel Chandler Harris. Of course we shift to cartoons then, but it's the only animation I remember...except for the bluebirds when Uncle Remus sings the Oscar-winning song from the film Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah.

OK, if you're wincing at some thoughts of stereotype here, you're not alone. In the 1960s, the NAACP protested to Disney about the movie...and it was withdrawn. The song and the Brer Rabbit sequences still can be found here and there, but apparently the full movie only can be purchased in Japan. A friend of mine found a couple of copies of video from there up in Canada, and smuggled them in. As a result, I can report I've seen Song Of The South fairly recently---and had the chance to share it with my kids. What impressed me as a child was the racial interaction in the movie, how Remus and the boy came to love each other, and the social repercussions their relationship eventually produced. But isn't this strange---that the very movie I credit with developing an interest in me in the civil rights of American citizens, and people around the world, is banned as being prejudicial?

Well leaving all that aside, what happened back in first grade is I became open to friendships with people of other races and nationalities. At the same time we were beginning to learn folk songs in music class at school. My uncle, who was essentially a farmer and a United Brethren, got me started in stamp collecting. The whole world and its peoples were opening up to me and I loved it. But I was made aware of problems. A black school friend named Ronnie followed me home one day, and Mom gave me a talk about different people staying and playing with their own "kind." I didn't like that, and so a year or 2 later I went home with another black kid named Morris. When we got to Metallic Avenue, I saw there was no street there at all. In fact, 10 feet in front of the house, which had no door on it by the way, there was a tall wire fence...and 10 feet beyond that were the tracks of our town's major railway, the Erie. I guess I was pretty scared, and I went home.  More >

I had a night of foreboding last night. No, it wasn't the champagne. In fact I went to bed very early. I felt it when I awoke around 3 AM, with fragments of a dream still flickering. People were coming up the hill, closing in...and I needed to decide whether or not to shoot. Rather a moot question, since I didn't seem to have any guns.

Maybe the wind, which by then was battering the house, had shaken me up. The cold front had arrived, bringing the snow from further west that's falling now. We expect about an inch, and I've already put down the potash before the relatives arrive for a Hungarian New Year's feast.
It couldn't have been the hospitality I enjoyed yesterday at Kathy's remarkable home. She and her partner Constantine had invited a few people for a delicious lunch of soup, fresh bread, salad, deviled eggs, cheese and some Crumb's special crackers that I brought. The land is high on a hill of natural oak forest, with amazing outcroppings of huge boulders, possibly shoveled there by the glacier which chugged to a stop just north of there.

When Kathy first acquired the land, she found a cave among those rocks and there she lived until she could build a tepee, and eventually more comfortable shelter. What they have now is a model home, for me at least, that is self-sustaining and off-the-grid. You can see it here [link] and go there to find out more if you're close by. There are more and more energy-efficient and alternative houses showing up around here. People move here especially to try their hand at living this way.  More >

Step Into the Stargate of Transformation - posted ONLY by Brenda3 comments

December 11, 2007: I have had this date on my calendar since last January - this is IT and IT'S BIG...

Hi Everyone, How are you this fine December evening? Well - this is going to be one of those weeks when you receive several emails from me. Things seem to happen in extremes these days, or as the old saying goes: "feast or famine." This week surely is a feast; and so there may be a plethora of emails coming your way!

I am in awe as I look a head to this month and discuss it with my metaphysical and astrological compadres. I almost don't know where to begin when I take in the breadth and the sheer majesty of what is happening in December 2007. I have heard some say that it is a "Grand Finale" of an epoch. Epochal, that is a good word to describe the times we are living in - indeed the IMMEDIATE times we are living in. This month we are dealing with cycles of 12 years, 90 years, 250 years, 3,000 years, and even 26,000 years. All coming to fruition NOW. In the dark of the velvet (5th) night...

As one of my previous emails discussed, we have just entered the 5th Night - the turning point of the 6 days and 7 nights - of the Mayan Calendar (as calculated by Carl Johann Calleman). NOTE: if you would like to read my article and many other posts/information on the Mayan 5th Night, click here: [link]

It is no coincidence that we are now peering into a very powerful Stargate Portal, just after we stepped into the 5th Night. The 5th Night is the backdrop (a velvety deep luxurious backdrop, like the indigo night sky) upon which all of this will play out. We have a New Moon in Sagittarius on Sunday (12-9-07) which opened up a portal involving a momentous planetary conjunction on Tuesday: Pluto and Jupiter conjunct at the Galactic Center. Then later in the month at the Solstice we have the chance to hit the RE-SET button on our lives and start fresh, REALLY start fresh in 2008. More on the Solstice later. For now I want to focus on Pluto/Jupiter at the Galactic Center.

Many are asking me: "What does Pluto on the Galactic Center mean exactly?" Truly, it's hard to say; we can only talk in energies and potentialities. Like every other planetary or celestial alignment - especially those involving Pluto - it is an opportunity for spiritual evolution. The choices that we make as we walk through the Stargate determine our experience.

To understand this conjunction, we have to back up a bit. Those who have been receiving my newsletter for several years have been reading about the (dwarf) planet Pluto traveling over the Galactic Center .

What is the Galactic Center ? It is the Core or HEART CHAKRA of our Galaxy, the Milky Way. In fact, the Galactic Center is a Black Hole which sucks energy (all matter) toward it.

In addition, on either side of this Prime Black Hole, we find Pulsars which pulse info to us about the past and the future. This means that we are especially open to transmissions from Spirit at this time. The December 11th conjunction occurring at 28 degrees Sagittarius is exact on the Pulsar that gives us a glimpse of our future.  Changing the Course of Human History: 2008 a most pivotal year1 comment

Changing the Course of Human History: 2008 a most pivotal year
channeled by Carol Fitzpatrick... [link]
http://www.carolynnfitzpatrick.com/futurehistory.html

"We are here my dear ones because you have called us to you. We are
Yeshua from the House of David, and Jehostephat brother and son John,
Corinna, sister, and Mary of the Magdalene. We are coming to you as a
collective consciousness because your beloved family of humanity is
preparing to play out the grand details of life in the physical.

Creation cycles that have been in play for millennial, well before the
time of our tribe, have come into the movement, a creation that is
about to explode with possibility. Many will look back at the end of
your time on the planet and realize that this year of 2008 is the
year that your path as a race of nations pivoted and changed the
course of human history. We cannot reveal the details of this
dramatic unfolding, my dear ones but in the telling of the creation,
you will find your way to your own choice. Your choice will be made
in the quiet of your very own heart. Your choice will change the
course, set the ship right, onto a different course.

You have been playing out the games of self-destruction for a very
long time. There have been many of the original tribesmen who have
been prophesying the coming choice, but to no avail. We beseech you
now to come into a collective adjoinment with one another.

It is now time to repair the breach among you as brethren of the
light. You will find that as you soften your heart, and atone for the
creations of old that the Divine light that you are it will become
heir apparent to even the most hardened of hearts.

There are many among you who will say, "I saw it coming all along,
but there was nothing that I could have done differently."

We say to you, our sons and daughter of the light, that you are the
last of the cycles of hatred and violence to set up this earthen
plane. Beyond the time of 2007, there will be no more. We are
preparing the way to light all hearts with understanding that
violence against the collective self must now be finished.

As you open your hearts to receive the Grace of God the Father, you
will find your Divine Mother there waiting for your embrace.

We open our hearts in all manners of being. We are the Essenes."

NEW ADDITION - Planetary Grid Activation on Mt. Zion2 comments

Tune in and link up energetically with Mt. Zion - the site of the Last Supper & supposedly where the Virgin Mary died. Enjoy the transcript of the work recently conducted In Egypt, Israel and Jordan with Michelle and her group on the 13th of September 2007 Lady Mary Magdalene Channeled through Michelle Eloff© www.TheLightweaver.org , Johannesburg, RSA13 September 2007 Live-Time Planetary Grid Activation - Mt. Zion

*This information may be shared with other sources on strict conditions that no information is altered or deleted or used for monetary gain, and the source of the information be acknowledged. Transcribed by Judith Muller *Please note that reading this information will have an effect on you. *You will be energetically linked with the Channeling Being and a similar process facilitated within you. It is not exactly the same as being in the presence of the channeling Master, however the effects are just as powerful. *Do not concern yourself regarding time lines given to the participants in the channeling. *You will be taken through a similar one in accordance with your Divine Plan, Timing & Purpose.

ACTIVATION INFORMATION STARTS HERE:

I am Mary Magdalene, greetings and welcome to all of you today. I stand within the presence of the Divine Violet and Golden flames of the Golden Age. These flames have manifested within your presence and within your being serving as gateways into the Divine worlds of reunion with the Light. All of you, as I am sure you already know, are *Divine aspects of the Gold and Violet flames of our cosmic parents*. These flames are the ones that burn brightly inside of you, fueling your inspiration and driving you to move forward and continue gaining power over that which creates the perception of limitation and fear.

The activation we are conducting with all of you today is one that will *challenge your belief systems* on a very deep level. The reason why I tell you this is because you are ready to embrace *a different level of quantum perception*. There are influences that you are affected by that are deliberately programmed into your environment so as to distract you. Some of you have been sensing the presence of this deliberate distraction. You have felt the uneasiness of something not being quite comfortable. This is *already your physical confirmation* that you have moved beyond many of the levels of density that keep humanity's perception in the lower vibrations of conscious perception.

What I am about to tell you may stretch your imagination and most importantly it will stretch your mind. Your mind needs this exercise because it has become rigid in its ability to move beyond the parameters set in place by the old paradigms that keep you locked in an attitude that feeds your belief systems and current perceptions of life. I am not here to feed any conspiracy theories, however, it is important that you know that not all of your conspiracy theorists are paranoid or neurotic. In fact much of what they have discovered is in fact true and you have all heard that very often truth is far stranger than fiction, and sometimes it is more difficult to digest the truth than it is to digest the illusion.

There have been experiments conducted that have changed your world dramatically. These experiments have already challenged the theory of relativity and many of Einstein's other theories. There have been experiments conducted in the year of 2000 to be specific, and in these experiments they managed to move faster than the barriers of light permit movement. Now what this means is that there is evidence that something can be in two places at the same time, but what it does even more, (which will stretch your imagination now) is, that it defies the law of cause and effect.

Now one does not have to have a cause for an effect to manifest, this means your power to be in more than one place at one time without a cause, without motive, and without intention is possible. In fact it is being done already. It is vital that your consciousness takes these words in because this is part of the matrices we are dismantling at this time.

The governments have mastered much of this already. It is also known as remote viewing and remote interference or influence. What this means is that they can reach an altered state of consciousness working from levels that the average human being can not work from as yet, simply because that power eludes them. Remote viewing and remote influencing means *you are able to tune into every single probable outcome in your future* based on where you are currently at, and then *you can ask which of those futures is the most probable*; which one is the most beneficial in terms of your learning, your journey - so which one would be of best benefit to you. And with that knowledge you can then move forward, you can create and *you can influence the dynamics of your life* and all life in fact, like never before. And this is where the true essence of magic and miracles manifest. You, as a group, are drawing the energy of *that realm into the physical field of planet earth* and you are drawing it *into the physical field of your own body*, right into the space around your atoms.

The atomic structure in your body knows all of this already. It was made from that power and it was birthed within that essence. It has all of that knowledge and over the months that lie ahead of you we will work with you in assisting you in activating the dormant parts of your brain that hold that technology, in other words the power to become an empowering vehicle of creation.  More >
