Nothing is worth prostituting oneself, not even art. (And I´m an artist.) An artist cannot create without soul. And prostituting oneself, even for art, is not good for the soul. So ultimately, each person must know what is more important to them.

20 Mar 2005 @ 21:34 by swanny : Excellant
Marvelous
You understand

thankyou

20 Mar 2005 @ 21:43 by vaxen : No...
a thousand times NO! I'm an "artist," too, and have had a lot of 'success' in this world with my 'art.' But when the grunge of exhibiting got to me, long ago, in Israel, then, New York, then Pittsburgh P.A., then New Orleans, I gave it up...

My art, be it Music or otherwise, is no longer for 'sale,' nor will it ever be--again. Now it is only for me and I exhibit it astrally where the taint of 'money,' and the snobs that use it to 'buy' art with, just doesn't exist.

Well, doesn't mean giving up ones' art, though, but rather making the whole of ones' life ones' art. Then if you 'prostitute' it...well, ;) you know the score.

I agree with 'Shakti Ma' that nothing is worth the price tag that prostitution carries with it. Just look at politicians everywhere. Souless, artless!

20 Mar 2005 @ 22:21 by swan : NO!
I do art to express my soul. I wouldn't even think of prostituting my soul.

21 Mar 2005 @ 00:34 by astrid : Hmmmm, very interesting.....
....having grown up surrounded with Art. My Mom had a little Art Shop and she herself was thee Master guilder in Helsinki for decades! ( It was only 24 carat gold in those days )Been running to every Vernissage possible in my teens... A+ in Art studies myself... Learned "ALL" the Masters of the Old World ( had to..'twas not my free choise...hehhehe) .... getting really **** tired of the Phu Phu world eventually... but not after seen "all" the Obligatory Art Museums and Paintings in Europe and Cairo...the Q constantly grew in my Mind WHAT is ART and WHO --really-- is 'An Artisit'...
I came to the conclusion that we all born Artists -in one area of Life, or another...- the determining factor was/is IF what we do is done with and from genuine INSPIRATION!...
We can clean a house with genune inspiration or cook the dinner for our Loved ones... or really whatever!... HOW FREEING THAT WAS!

21 Mar 2005 @ 01:15 by swanny : Okay try this then
Cutting corners to save time

"another Koan Im on a roll.... " 21 Mar 2005 @ 01:15
Is that like a fortune in a cookie?

Hey Swanny, that's it! The Koan Roll. We'll make a fortune---er, excuse me. We'll clean up...and do some prostituting too!

24 Mar 2005 @ 13:39 by swanny : Yea
We could stuff it with oxymorons and antinomies
seasoned with assorted paradoxes and mixed
messages. People wouldn't know what hit em...

$$$$$$$$

24 Mar 2005 @ 13:44 by swanny : Hmmm
And we could put
a hiku on top fastened
with a toothpick for
asthetics don't you know.
Yea and maybe have side orders
of various proverbs and parables.

We're in the money...
