Synthetic life soon....

Word is out that scientist are only a short way away from
creating synthetic life forms,

well thanks I think but
I was somewhat afraid of this but at the same time
I don't think they or we have the ability to create anything much more complex
that a simple thing and thats what worries me. trying to mimic the process of
creation and evolution without the wisdom and experience and even ability to
compute the enormous amount of variables seems a bit of a fools errand.
and even if we could .... should we? and why
we don't even seem to do a very good job with the obligations and stewardship
of a fairly simple task of not destroying the planet and each other so why think we could handle something even more difficult and onerous. Do these egg heads really want the credit for unleashing potential hell on earth or ?. Im told the way they decide such things is to guage whether the benefit would exceed the damage. it just a bit of an unknown though. would this be or is this beneficial or detrimentary. and how could you know at this stage and if we don't really know do we really want to get into experimenting on ourselves and the planet again can't we just take a break for a few thousand years and tidy up the mess we made to this point.

so id say nix to it.... no more experiments on us and the planet..... been there done that..... Moratorium this till some future occurence. Im tired of trying to pick up sciences messes... theres so darn irresponsible and short sighted sometimes.

Well it was an internet news article on a link to a supposed well known news and internet media source about a recent science break thru but can not be verified at the moment given the sometimes ? and strange nature of the internet so I do not wish to aid in its perhaps premature and untimely distribution so will not provide the link and just provide this as a comment on the subject in general but you might find it on a google news search if you wish to investigate it further on your own as I have somewhat washed my hands of it by giving this said opinion.

If scientists are close to creating synthetic life, it wont be anything like a cell. It would most likely be an extremely simple virus.Which there is still debate about whether viruses are in fact life or not quite. But realistically though, a line between life and non-life cannot actually be drawn.What about prions, self-replicating proteins that behave like viruses etc I could go on forever. Any way, I think we are thousands of years away from truly creating artificial life, that is able to reproduce and evolve in a similar way that we do. And unless we almost destroy ourselves in the meantime, and start all over again, we will be in a much more knowledgeable and responsible position to know what we are doing, and to fully understand the implications and consequences. But in the meantime I wouldnt worry to much.Even if an actual virus was made and released into the environment, it would soon be gobled up and caused to become extinct very quickly by the current 5 billion year old form of life. Anything man makes in the lab wouldnt stand a chance. Its modifying current versions of this life where the potential "hell on earth" may arise. Anyway, fear not mankind, yet!

Creating life from matter is called abiogenesis and has been known to be possible for a long time.

Nature does it, it happens IN our bodies as well (pathogens), and man has done it.

No surprise, man is part of nature. And part of god (his extension, his crreative tool), so he should be capable of doing it.
Just as creator gods do it, even though they themselves have been created.

The problem here is the false teaching of the one god.
The word god is just a label, like any other word.
If we agree to use this label for first source only, then we have no label left to identify the vast hiërarchy between first source and man.

The mystery of life will go wherever it finds a place to dwell, even if this place is created by man.
And god would be pleased, as long as the motivation is in harmony with his creation. Wouldn't every father?
