Nevertheless, there is satisfaction...and it's monetary when you start saving cash for ditching the Consumer Lifestyle. Change any remaining lightbulbs! And we've discovered there are LED decoration lights this year...multi-colored too. They cost more but are supposed to last 20 years...and they use sooo little electric. 14 Dec 2007 @ 18:57 by vaxen : Jazzo Goes Off... [RING-RING] Hello, is this the Division of drug enforcement ? 'Yes. What can we do for you?' 'I'm calling to report my neighbor Virgil Smith....He's hiding Marijuana inside his firewood! Don't quite know how he gets it inside the logs, but he's hidin' it there.' 'Thank you very much for the call, sir.' The next day, the Drug Unit descends on Virgil's house. They search the shed where the firewood is kept. Using axes, they bust open every piece of wood, but find no marijuana. They warn Virgil that he is under investigation and leave. Shortly, the phone rings at Virgil's house. 'Hey, Virgil! This is Floyd....Did the DEA come?' 'Yeah!' 'Did they chop your firewood?' 'Yep!' " Merry Christmas, buddy!" 17 Dec 2007 @ 05:35 by bushman : Yep :} Slowly but surly I been swaping out light bulbs for the LED versions, not the compact florecent ones, the LED kind, not only do LEDs us less power they use less amps, although most the lighting in my trailer is 12 volt, I have trouble blowing circit breakers with the regular incandecent bulbs and running an electric heater and a coffee pot, and then try and microwave a muffin, pop, out go the lights, lol. But as well I been swaping out my tail light and directional bulbs in my truck, and have noticed that my alternator has a much easyer time charging the battery, and LEDs dont get hot so Im not having to replace the plastic lens covers like I used to have to do every so often. There are a couple companies that make them for track lighting and the tech is caught up in the low voltage area, for instance, we have walk lights that use quartz bulbs, they get hot they burn out in a year, they also limit the amount of fixtures I can run on a trans former, basicly 250watts a circit, each fixture with a quarts bulb runs 20watts and a couple of them run 50watts, now I can run the new LED bulbs with 24 LEDs per bulb and they only use 3 watts each, this means I can deleet 2 full 500watt transformers and just run one to run all the walk lights on the property and still get more than enough light and still be able to add more fixtures. They even have them for spot lighting trees. :} Other entries in Environment, Ecology 20 Apr 2008 @ 17:08: The Redemption Of Spring 18 Apr 2008 @ 10:02: Jeff Goodell Shines The Light On Big Coal 8 Apr 2008 @ 10:03: HopeDance And Waking Up 7 Mar 2008 @ 09:59: Energy Efficiency Makeover: One Homeowner's Story 8 Feb 2008 @ 10:55: Take A Tip From Me 2 Feb 2008 @ 20:35: nobody Knows 30 Jan 2008 @ 10:27: Making The Best Of The Toxic 18 Jan 2008 @ 21:18: The Wilderness 14 Jan 2008 @ 10:16: Societal Speed and Global Warming 23 Dec 2007 @ 12:27: Climate Change and Crop Yields
