Not very many of us active out of the 500-odd members

Most of the Canadian members of NewCivNet, a little more than 500, are inactive. I think I counted about half a dozen across canada as active as I, and I'm the only one active at all from Quebec. That's sad, because I'd like to see Canada, peaceful Canada, play a larger hand in this network.
So all you Canadians reading this, we need more input from you if anything is going to get done!

As an American, I applaud your efforts. Come out wherever you are, Canadian NCNers!

24 Nov 2005 @ 14:03 by jmarc : so you're having an election
and by the radio station I listen to out of Niagara, it seems pre-ordained that the conservatives will wiN. Also the big soft wood lumber / NAFTA dispute, which doesn't seem to make it to US media airwaves.... Any Canadien viewpoints on these things you'd like to share?

24 Nov 2005 @ 19:20 by oasiian : I certainly do!
If the conservatives win the throne, then it will be two countries with their heads in the sands to change, not just one. If Clinton were still President I think he'd be a little bit more willing to listen...however, as things have turned out? I think that America is simply turning its head from us after we declined the offer to help conquer Iraq. We went with the UN and we're still with the UN.
I think that Martin and Bush...maybe someone smarter than Bush, actually...should have a sitting, and really get down to business, rather than simply sending broadcasts from A to B, which could be so easily intercepted on the other side of the border.
If we don't start getting Mano-a-mano like traditional diplomacy worked, then we will not win our trade rights, or the rights we should have, whether it's to Lumber or Beef or Oil.
If it were in My capacity I'd go have a chat with these guys myself...Someone has to!

Hi Gavin - Yes, for Martin and Bush to have a dialogue face to face would be just great. Unfortunately, we have two leaders who do not see eye to eye. And how can they when their principles are so different? But, I must confess that I feel that Martin is more appropriate at this time than Harper to be our leader as he has been in politics longer and even though of the scandal that has existed in the past. Maybe being from Ontario, I feel this way! ;-)
