A friend sent this to me and after experiencing the site, I was compelled to place it here. Please click on this link for a Flash presentation that brings us to an entertaining and sobering assessment of the real proportions humanity faces on our small planet. We are blessed – that’s for sure!

 Displacement Theory2 comments
category picture12 Feb 2002 @ 00:50
I write to mention one of my ideas about health to this fine community, or more accurately a way to move swiftly toward health. If we forget about debating was is right or wrong and focus on making healthy decisions our vision becomes clear and unencumbered with fret.

My theory of wellness, healing, or moving toward health is based on illness displacement. One becomes ill out of applying unhealthy practices and then worsens out of mental confusion with the result. All the energy spend feeling sorry, sad, or being critical about any aspect of illness does not move us toward health. If we then come to know what healthy practices and happiness are, then we have the challenge of putting them to use, while still being under the influence of illness. We can remove all debate, depression and illness by displacing it with good practices - one step, one element at a time. If we restrict our consciousness and activity placing goodness - good things - into our life, after a time there will be no space left for anything harmful!

This method I think is most effective in personal relationships where coordination is required, but certainly a viable route for personal improvement. Nonetheless, it seems to have great value in perspective with the global state of disease, to slowly ad goodness, kindness and love to dominate and smother anything resembling any number of negative adjectives.

I also note that the order we do things matters. The statement, "Love increases as judgement decreases," looks like great sentiment at first glance - however - there is the idea of a prime mover, or action that is enabling. Yes, one can decrease one's judgement, but that will leave a void to be filled and it will not necessarily by love. By placing the priority of this wisdom in the opposite order we get a better consciousness in; As Love is increased - judgement decreases. So I extend that rational to make a parallel statement; As goodness is increased - illness decreases.  More >

 Another Animal Story1 comment
picture9 Feb 2002 @ 23:28
Since everyone has been hot on animal stories I will place mine here.

I have a friend with a beautiful 68 acre ranch in Wyoming where they raised cows. One day we were out on horseback galloping across the green range to scan the herd. They were a fine healthy bunch of cow and bulls. One in particular caught my eye, lying there on late spring grass, but my eyes deceived me. This could not be - a steer with no legs! I asked my friend to tell me about this animal and he relayed how fond his family was of this old veteran of the challenging Northern Plains. When I asked, "what do you call him?" he replied, "ground beef!"

It was hard to contain my composure but we rode off back to the ranch house for some vittles, Jim beam and cigars. We hitched our ponies and turned to walk up the steps when I noticed another peculiar creature sleeping beside the steps in the warm sun. I did a double take… and thought this is some weird family, but presumed they have very compassionate hearts. So once again, I inquire about what appeared to be a dog with no legs. My friend tells me he too has been a faithful pet, who suffered the loss of his legs from frostbite two seasons ago. I thought it was amazing that he still had the will to live, but knew the love of this family kept him going through their fine attentions. When I inquired about the dog’s name my friend said, "it doesn’t matter, he won’t come when you call him."  More >

Topic: The shape of the New Civilization

Topic Posted by: oldman (jkallard )
Date Posted: Mon Jan 19 11:51:50 1998
Topic Description:
Much is said and little is done. Surely, that is the cry of many, and it is an echo from across the ages. Utopias have been offered before and we have yet to find even an inkling of where the candles we need to find our way are hidden. Here we are, now. How shall we go forward? believe that the first thing that is needed is a series of new definitions, ones that hold in themselves the best examples of the past while lighting the path to the future. Example: Success. What is a success? How does society define the term? We know from the past that anyone who goes forward and improves the lot of humanity is generally considered a success. However, the will/desire to create or improve is often mutated by the desire for money, fame or power, power defined as the amount of control one has over the lives of others. Define Power. Define Control. Once we have these things in place, it will become easier for others to follow. DANGER!!! I know from past experience that if we merely "destroy" the negative aspects of the past we stand in jeopardy of seelf-destruction. The desire/will to improve the world, or one's own standing, carries much that is negative: the desire to damage, destroy or control others to maintain the position of authority one has created, but to eliminate that will also destroys the impulse to improve. Question: Where is the balance point? Where can we look and how do we implement our best desires and dreams without confining ourselves to past chains or eliminating the adventurousness of the human spirit?

Subject: Definitions Message:
Well, I'm not sure if what we need is definitions. We're not very likely to all agree on them anyway. But, hey, better definitions for key elements of society would certainly not hurt.

I think what we need is another infrastructure. Better systems and ways of relating to each other, without all having to agree and without us all ending up being confused.

We need tools for small groups working together meaningfully, we need tools for organizing all the global information. We need ways of tying all the pieces together into wholes, rather than having to be overwhelmed by a zillion fragmented pieces.

A think a key problem with today's world is that we're presented with a false image of fragmentation. We get the picture that the world is random and meaningless and confusing and disjointed. Really it isn't, I think it is a false picture, composed by faulty media and faulty intelligence systems and faulty educational systems.

*********

2002 = I include this in my log to illustrate that we have the proper consciousness of analysis, but not the consciousness to action. These two parts of a dialogue seem so profoundly similar to what I experience here on NCN in the present time frame.

With all the negative posts on the subject of finding agreement, isn’t it imperative to find agreement on the definitions which matter most? Success is one of those terms. Clearly my definition of success has little relation to the public use of the word and understanding it represents. In our newly civilized minds exists the new model we must build publicly, so we all know what that is collectively, to lead our children and set an example of this awareness to the old civilization. We must lead now. Where is the accessible depository distilled of NCN wisdom for success, where all can search it, and can see it, and have it compel agreement spiritually?

Tasks like this one all require infrastructure design to capability, organization and orchestration of our participation.

 NAFTA - "TRADING DEMOCRACY"10 comments
category picture6 Feb 2002 @ 01:02
Tonight my heart sank into a feeling I cannot put into words. It is a sickening sensation on the scale of a nuclear blast devastating every moral concept you know. My anger and fear seem almost uncontrollable, yet I try with all presence of mind not to sound insane. This is a ten alarm fire that we must face immediately, by making our intelligence known, so in lieu of our undeveloped ability to act as a group, I ask you to write your representatives, State, Federal and especially the President of the United States to this charade of legal minds called NAFTA.

This the title of Bill Moyer’s documentary focusing only on Chapter 11 of NAFTA, titled "Trading Democracy." The program reveals that corporations legally have the right to sue any government participationg in NAFTA for damages if their profits are threatened, even if those profits are not yet realized, by any current, or new laws. There are cases pending in all three countries, all cases settled so far have been decided for the corporations bringing suits against governments, which are determined solely by private tribunal. In other words, Chapter 11 legally supercedes the Constitution of the United States and the Supreme Court as ultimate legal authority in America. It also has proven to take precedent over Mexican and Canadian law. We are talking about billions of dollars in settlements in a very short time with no limit of future penalties. There are plans to expand this agreement to the global community. I will not attempt to describe this in any more detail but ask that you first educate yourself to this problem. There are several links on the Public Citizen website about Chapter 11 that will help:

[link]

Please locate Congressman Doggett’s letter to the President (I had to reload this link for it to bring up the PDF file) about Chapter 11 Revisions and draft a similar statement for yourself. I wish we had a way to draft and send such letters from the members of NCN for many of the reasons I have stated before.

I case you have any doubts about the value and security offered through a democratic method of government, no matter how crude, I believe you will find your way of life is threatened directly by this covert tactic to rape without opposition. This my call for us to act together separately now.

Recent and upcoming airings on KCET: 2/5 10:00pm, 2/7 10:00pm. This is a must see so please check your local PBS station listings, or order a tape of the show.

Gateway to Our Conscious Evolution5 comments
category picture4 Feb 2002 @ 12:11
Barbara Marx Hubbard decided the first way to anchor her group in Santa Barbara is to fashion a Gateway to align consciousness through education and Dialogue about really coming to know ourselves. I was disappointed at first that there wasn’t more opportunity to participate on the web, but I see now that her organization rings with cooperation and Love in comparison to NCN because there is no mistake about what people are doing there together. They have disagreements, but they do not feud.

The Foundation for Conscious Evolution has placed this "Gateway" course on the web for all comers, but it does cost money and they are NPO. It is an adult course, too complicated and intellectual for younger children, but it is a great beginning. I include the link for those of you who are not aware of this leap into the future as a way to get on a solid foundation, which may bring a sense of confidence to our future.

 A New Beginning4 comments

Today I will make a new beginning on NCN.

I love this family of people for your hearts are blessed with love and the desire that others should have it too. In the past we may have been divided in unconsciousness, but we arrive here because we already know some basic wisdom about how success is made. That wisdom is had in different proportions by each of us and imparted to participate in community consciousness. There is some duty we have to educate each other, but most importantly to share our wisdom with the searchers and the ignorant.

This generation has the responsibility for the human legacy, and so there many other obligations we have in order to avoid making an end soon.

I have given of myself as I have seen the need. Where there was contest or confusion, I made a humble attempt to impart our common need as vision for the future, to unite our energy, to align our individual uniqueness into a single force. I really do not care to be right, but I do care about the use of our energy and time to do what is essentially right, what is essentially productive. It has taken me some time to meet many of you and learn about this place and it has made me a better person. It is with respect for you that I choose another approach now.

I have devoted many hours to my own education so that I can write with some confidence about Conscious Evolution. I have concentrated specifically on discovering those things that matter most and the simplicity of love as the realm where all solutions are found. My consciousness is recorded here and will remain, as long as Ming continues to give of himself to us, my sincere best effort to our cause. However, I cannot continue to make the same investment expecting different results.

Today I will stop placing words onto this site that are merely part of an ongoing discussion about the same things repeatedly, or debate the direction where we will find fulfillment. Conscious Evolution is not new and humanity has collected more than enough knowledge to make a better society, but it has not stopped us from just talking. Commiserating has no particular value that applies here.

I am anxious to partake in any work group to the fashion the tools we need to change course, develop new software, and to make this an influential presence on the web. Please let me know if you are interested in the same goals.

Thank you all for your support, comments and spiritual companionship.

 DIVISIONS & DAMAGE1 comment
category picture31 Jan 2002 @ 13:45
I ponder: What are we? And separate that question from: What have we become? There lies the first division in our consciousness, for our minds have been damaged in the model of humanity past. We might also consider that we were not raised on only wholesome food. We have also been fed things that are not true and things as deliberate lies. It is very hard to transcend this prejudice, conditioning if you will, to be objectively observant to the core of spirit and our connection with it. This is of nature. This is a given. This not a choice. Will we explore what we truly are, or propose to say we already know? If we do indeed know, then why is there so much friction of ego in general?  More >

 Social Consciousness3 comments

This is not my creation, but I made one small edit to Andrea Kulbacki's observation:

Start with a cage containing five monkeys. Inside the cage, hang a banana on a string and place a set of stairs under it. Before long, a monkey will go to the stairs and start to climb towards the banana. As soon as he touches the stairs, spray all of the other monkeys with cold water. After a while, another monkey makes an attempt with the same result - all the other monkeys are sprayed with cold water. Pretty soon, when another monkey tries to climb the stairs, the other monkeys will try to prevent it.

Now, put away the cold water. Remove one monkey from the cage and replace it with a new one. The new monkey sees the banana and wants to climb the stairs. To his surprise and horror, all of the other monkeys attack him. After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to climb the stairs, he will be assaulted.

Next, remove another of the original five monkeys and replace it with a new one. The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment with enthusiasm! Likewise, replace a third original monkey with a new one, then a fourth, then the fifth.

Every time the newest monkey takes to the stairs, he is attacked. Most of the monkeys that are beating him have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs or why they are participating in the beating of the newest monkey.

After replacing all the original monkeys, none of the remaining monkeys have ever been sprayed with cold water. Nevertheless, no monkey ever again approaches the stairs to try for the banana.

Why not?

Because as far as they know that's the way it's always been done around here.

And that my friends, is how social consciousness HAS been formed en masse!  More >
