October 1, 2002 "YOU ARE EITHER WITH US, OR YOU ARE FIRED!"

Dear Friends,

I was going to write you a letter about what a pathetic liar George W, Bush is -- but then I figured, hey, why waste your time telling you something you already know!

You already know that his planned invasion of Iraq is a ruse meant to distract the public from the real issues, those issues being the following:

1. The number of people unemployed since he "took" office has risen by 35%.

2. We had a federal SURPLUS of $281 billion when he was inaugurated; today we have a DEFICIT of $157 billion.

3. TWO MILLION jobs have been eliminated since Bush began his occupation of the Oval Office.

4. The stock market is down 34% since January of 2001.

5. Another 1.4 million people now have NO health insurance, making it a total of over 41 million Americans who can't afford to get sick.

6. Only 13 corporate crooks out of HUNDREDS have been indicted, and none of them have been the close personal friends of Mr. Bush.  More >

Just a few thoughts........

To embrace one's Shadow is to be more whole. Yet how does one 'embrace' something that is unconscious thus not known. And what does 'embrace' mean anyway. Sounds like some New Age concept to me. Jung came up with "Shadow" as a concept, and he saw it as the unconscious receptacle of everthing that we would reject about ourselves if brought into consciousness. Robert Bly in his book on the Shadow sees it as a bag that we fill with the things we don't accept about ourselves; thoughts, feelings, acts that we find repugnant put in the bag and forget. Throughtout life we lug this bag around, it only making its presence known when we sometimes get mysteriously triggered, discovering we have far more "stuff" going on than the issue warranted.

So how does one work with Shadow? What wakes up the conscious mind enough to see the shadow? One method is to play; Shadowplay.  More >

"George W. in the Garden of Gethsemane"
An Open Letter to George W. Bush from Michael Moore

Dear George,

When it's all over in a couple months, and you're packing up your pretzels and Spot and heading back to Texas, what will be your biggest regret? Not getting out more often and seeing the sights around Rock Creek Park? Never once visiting the newly-renovated IKEA in Woodbridge, Virginia? Or buying your way to the White House with money from a company that committed the biggest corporate swindle in American history? I got a feeling you didn't miss much by not spending an entire Saturday afternoon assembling a Swedish bookcase -- but you should have known that there was no way you would ever finish your term by hopping into bed with Kenneth Lay.  More >

Well, in my opinion, whatever the issue, its about us getting active. That's a really simple statement. But primary thats all it takes. Thirty activists doing a good job will equate around 30,000 inactive people. A few years ago a handful of activists activated against Berger King concerning their use of Central American (Costa Rician) beef, that was been feed on ex-rainforest claimed grazing land. Embarassed and compelled by a 17% loss of income they stated they would only buy local beef! It doesn't take that much really! I would like to go on about what is achieable, but I know on this list I'm preaching to the converted! So that's it!  More >
