I thought it would be good to attempt to identify some of the potential obstacles to clear and open communication. Sure this has probably already been done a thousand times, but I believe a fresh perspective is a valuable contribution to any body of knowledge and I would encourage everyone to do the same and see what we come up with, what do you think?
Some of the things I have observed in myself and others;
The tendancy to 'take things personally' manifesting in emotional reactivity (as a result of inadvertantly identifying oneself with ones ideas, or the contents of the mind).
Fear in all its multifarious manifestations, physical, emotional and mental (as a result of accumulated experiences in situations where one got 'hurt').
Attachment to ones 'own' position in relation to the material being discussed, in contrast to a neutral perspective such as that employed in true scientific enquiry.
The tendency to cast others in a cetain light (due to assumptions about them based on our observations) then approaching them with this assumption superimposed over their actual being and inadvertantly causing them to act in accord with our projected expectations (as far as we can tell).
Failure to fully investigate the background and influences upon the entity with which we are attempting to communicate, and therefore often confusing their approach with some memory association we hold in relation to our perception of them.
Failure to realise that the only way in which we can actually know the 'other' is through our own cognitive function which may or may not be distorted, and assuming that the distortion exists as a manifestation of the 'other' rather than as a product of our own thinking.
Is there anything else that anyone can add to this rather brief synopsis?
It would be good to create a comprehensive overview of that which we are up against in order to then explore methods of transcending these limitations and freeing ourselves to communicate about the Process of the Real that is flowing through us (so much more clearly without such obstructions).
