There is a portion of the modern interpretation of the teachings of The Christ that focus on a concept known as original sin. This term and its deeper meanings have been explored elsewhere link but I would like to propose that for this phenomena to have occurred it must have arisen from a prior state, which could only be the state of innocence.
Given this is makes sense that the original state must have been the state of innocence and not sin as we have been expected to believe. Taking this as a central understanding could well completely change the way many people disposed toward Christianity view themselves, each other and the world.
Consider the innocence and purity of a newborn. It is irresistibly attractive, it softens the heart and disposes one to be caring and nurturing toward it. It gives us an unmistakeable sense of awe to be in the presence of such a being.
Now imagine if we all had these feelings toward each other as part of our understanding of the original innocence from which we have all descended.
The world and its people could be having a much nicer time together if this simple reorientation of understanding were to be applied, even if only among the Christian community.

Sure this has probably already been done a thousand times, but I believe a fresh perspective is a valuable contribution to any body of knowledge and I would encourage everyone to do the same and see what we come up with, what do you think? Whilst it is worthwhile having the goal of an idealised state of mind to strive for and work towards, trying to define a state that is considered by one group to be desirable for all creates an internal totalitarianism that we don't need. There is actually no one “state of mind” that is desirable or appropriate for all.
What I am describing here is not a “state of mind” of any description, but rather a transcendence from the state of being in the mind at all. Of course on our way to realising this transcendence we need to pass through many states of mind, but there is no one way that will take us all there, each one is approaching from their own angle. There are a wide variety of approaches to the truth, many paths that lead to the same fundamental understanding, and a shared vision of almost unimaginable beauty that nearly defies description. Language fails to convey the awe we experience as we behold the truth, as gratitude overwhelms our senses and we melt into bliss. We endeavor to explain our knowing using metaphor and analogy, using descriptives that fail to capture the essence of what we know. The constructed environment in which many of us find ourselves often reinforces one way of thinking over others, the group consciousness of the combined residents of an area can be of a quite particular nature and this is observable in the demeanor and behavior of the people, and their relationship to their environment, the care they show each other and the common discourse they share. This topic is discussed at length in a new book currently in development at http://www.anandavala.info/GaianEgo/ We need to find ways of focussing on what we all see, believe, perceive and know in common. To come to a unified understanding of the nature of reality, of the truth beyond the world of things. It is heartening indeed to see the efforts that are being made in so many areas to work in this direction. It is vital for our ongoing participation in this universal creativity (if that is what we are meant to do) that we become aware of ourselves as more than the sum of our differences. It will be necessary to face some pretty tough truths about the situation that early 21st century humanity finds itself in, and to prepare ourselves for the needed effort to rectify and balance the situation. The human factor on planet earth needs to take itself into account and realize its dependence upon and integration into the bigger picture. As a whole, humanity is approaching a stage where the unification of human consciousness will occur, and the mind of the planet as embodied in us will be born. What kind of a being will that be? And what kind of world will it find itself in? These are decisions that we need to be wise in the making. More >

Communication is in essence the exchange of information between systems.
Human beings are incredibly complex adaptive systems and as such manifest an intricate and complex array of both gross and subtle communications.
Our most obvious communications occur through the use of language which is an artefact of the mind, and thus is entirely dependent on the condition of the minds between which it flows.
The words we use are actually symbols which refer to a meaning that we have assigned them and as such are entirely arbitrary and subject to the interpretation of each individual which encounters them. It is only due to consensus among the practitioners of a given language (set of symbols) as to the agreed meaning of these words or terms that they have any significance to us at all.
Problems in communication occur when there is confusion as to what the agreed meaning of a set of terms actually means in the context of the conversation taking place. The same word (symbol) may very well have a variety of possible meanings depending on the context in which it is being used.
In order to communicate effectively we need to take this into account and help each other to clarify the meaning and context of the words we are using, so as to reach a mutual understanding. For more insight into this see this article; link

If my own experience is anything to go by, it can seem like quite a challenge to adjust ones perspective in order to comprehend the emerging new paradigm.
I look around me at the people living their lives without questioning what it is that goes into making their lives the way they are. Or why it is they think the way they do.
The very act of asking such questions seems to make these folk extremely uncomfortable and the response from them is often “what on earth is the matter with the way things are?” or “how do you think there is any more to be known than what we can perceive?” More >

Due to the accelerated development of communications systems and the growing awareness and participation in the phenomenon of the World Wide Web, individuals are able to form effective group identities as never before in the known history of human civilization. Through these mediums, people are now able to be aware of the potential to exert considerable influence on world affairs and are joining together with the intention to do just that.
The following examples illustrate the immediate efficacy of such group initiatives, and their ability to make themselves known, thereby helping to inform us in ways that have the potential to bring our world into balance, to provide us with some much needed self reflection and help us to heal ourselves by offering us a deeper level of self awareness.
A message of hope and an invitation.
The following are a sample of the largest, longest serving or fastest growing organisations dedicated to finding solutions to the problems being created in the world by the arising of a collective ego which neither understands its own nature nor the nature of the situation in which it finds itself. This immature and vulnerable entity, which represents the current state of our collective consciousness, is experiencing severe trauma and is manifesting a crisis in which we are all involved. Now that we are aware that there is a problem, and have manifested a variety of means to address facets of the problem, we have the opportunity to embrace an overview of the situation that provides a common framework of understanding.
Within a common framework of understanding we are much more able to be effective in developing holistic means by which to address the phenomenon of which all these problems are the manifestations. The arising of the ego (or centralised control system) is a natural aspect of the evolution of complex systems, the causes and effects whereby this natural process gets unbalanced and begins to exhibit dysfunctional behaviour are the subject of much discussion, and it is seeking to heal itself from within.
If we are able to do the necessary inner work to realise ourselves as balanced and integrated personalities, whos egos have been overcome and whose innermost beings are serving the purpose for which they are intended (which is to integrate and centre the physical, emotional and mental aspects of our beings) then we will be in a position to understand what is necessary in order to address the issue of the collective ego, within the collective entity and by what means we can overcome egoic influence and bring it into balance, the personality of humanity as a collective systemic whole. If we apply the understandings gained through giving careful consideration to our part to play in the overall situation that is manifesting around us it will be much easier to comprehend, and thus we become empowered to take effective actions and to develop holistic means by which to nurture the collective entity through its process of individuation. This is a necessary effort of which all people everywhere need to become aware, and to give their immediate attention to in order to alleviate the suffering which our collective being is experiencing. For society as a whole to be in a fit state to manifest a balanced ego that serves only an integrative function and does not get out of hand and become dysfunctional, the individuals within it need to posses clear, rational thinking processes.
The following theory and techniques provide profound insight into the situation we humans find ourselves in and describes what we can do to help each other become liberated, rational thinking, functional beings, able to manifest a sane society.
There are groups all over the planet applying these techniques successfully to their particular issues and empowering each other to become leaders in the field of human liberation.
This is something that each and every single one of us can do towards creating a civilization that supports life rather than diminishes it.

It has come to my attention that there is a general tendency for people to be more attached to their opinion than they are interested in the truth. These are challenging words I know, yet if we fail to address this problem then we have no hope whatsoever of solving any of the other many problems which face humanity as a whole.
I believe that it is not too much to ask that we, as representatives of a thinking humanity, put our personal agendas aside and genuinely engage with the situation in a detached and impartial manner. We have the opportunity to grow beyond our current limited understanding (as a whole) but in order to do this effectively we need to realize ourselves as more than just 'individuals' and embrace our roles as potential guides to the human race.
No one of us can grasp the whole situation, no one of us can formulate the 'answer' that liberates us all from illusion, delusion and dysfunction. Only by our willingness to embrace and understand each others views and knowledge can we create a whole picture of what is going on here (on this planet, at this time) and in so doing together create a solution that works its way out into the civilization as a whole.
Whilst any one of us is participating from a separatist position, in the false belief that they alone have the insight that applies to all, we will be stuck in the current impasse. I urge all of us to honestly take stock of our position, painful as that may seem. It is a fact that no person of good-will would judge the genuine efforts of another to come to a position of clarity, and in fact the efforts so made will be received with humble gratitude and compassion for the individual sacrifice made during such an endeavor.
We can no longer allow personal fear to get in the way of group progress. This, wether we like it or not, is the truth. Until we are ready to 'stand naked in the light of day', real progress toward solving the problems of humanity will be impossible for those in denial of this simple, fundamental truth.
It is with Love for all humanity that I make this appeal, to you my brothers and sisters, put your personal material behind you and emerge as the children of the universe that you are. More >
